He's called her, and apologized personally and everything. Neither of them are worried about it anymore.

Anyway, he's a very talented guy.

I have to say he's someone I really expected to like when I first started hearing about him but thus far I haven't found any of his music particularly creative or interesting. So far he's just a giant douchebag who makes boring music to me.

moserw 09-16-2009 09:25 PM

I have 4 of his albums...

Kanye West - 808S & Heartbreak
Kanye West - Graduation
Kanye West - Late Registration
Kanye West - The College Dropout

Definitely talented and very good as a producer. Otherwise too he is pretty decent and does not sing on the usual topics like others.

This.

I don't understand what's that great about him... his music is bland and he's not appealing in any way to me whatsoever.

Never heard any of his "stuff". I know of him only because of his rude behaviour. I have no interest in someone who who act like this. Too many people doing stupid things these days.
Glad I'm not a kid, with jerks like this to represent this generation. Oh yeah, sorry, anything is "cool" right?

Yes, because previous generations didn't have people who acted like stupid jerks.

Well there's more media coverage of things now than there ever has been so more opportunities to flaunt stupidity. But when given the chance jackasses have always flaunted it.

Would be nice if more "stars" were noticed for doing positive things. Maybe that would not get noticed like being "baaad!"

How about Beyonce giving up her time at the mic at the MTV VMAs so that Taylor Swift could finish her speech? I thought that was pretty classy.

Beyonce strikes me as one of those cliche likes to think they're selfless singers though, i'm always going to be suspicious of acts like that, cynic that i am!

It's not that big of a difference....a very thin line actually....from someone on the outside looking in you'd call him a douchebag but from his perspective on the inside looking out he just has a big ego which I agree with and I'm not mad at him for having it.

Her dad/manager is the one that put together the little taylor swift coming back on stage thing after talking with Taylor's mom. I doubt she would've done it on her own. She might've spoken about it but not asked her to come back on stage.

TumorAttitude 09-18-2009 08:49 PM

I hope it was staged because I'm sort of sick of people bringing it up.

maybe he did in purpose to get attention, who knows...

Jester 10-09-2009 04:54 PM

So, everyone saying he's boring, what have you heard by him?

dark shadow 10-14-2009 09:33 PM

Kanye actually saddens me. He started off so promising with songs like "Jesus Walks" and "Homecoming" I even was ok with the 30 versions of "Stronger" he put out. However, once he found auto tune I just can't agree with the direction he chose to take his music. On the "808's and Heartbreaks" album, the songs are just so boring. There is scarcely any rapping on those tracks, instead choosing to pretend like he can sing. I will say it now, auto-tuning songs takes zero talent. In fact..... YouTube - Auto-Tune the News #8 WITH T-PAIN!

Kirby 10-14-2009 09:54 PM

Dark Shadow, KanYe said more than once that 808's and Heartbreaks is not a Hip-Hop album.

overdoser 10-15-2009 03:34 PM

autotuning is gonna be the sound from now on. 70's had sick ass music 80's had crap ass music 90's had grunge! 00's had I dunno really...just a big mush of bull**** and now for the 2010's it's gonna be hardcore auto tune...Even Big Lurch told me when he records over the phone(keep an eye out for the mixtape!) he's gonna have them auto tune it so it doesn't even sound like he's in jail.

so that is my prediction for the next 10 years :P

Personally I like the sound of X-Raided's Unforgiven album and Mac Dre's Punk Police. I don't know if they used auto tune but the roomsize and phone definitely make it raw.

Sorry to go so off topic :P :P I just can't stand listening to the radio now because no one uses THEIR voice anymore...even in pop and rock....sad.

Kirby 10-15-2009 05:00 PM

KanYe said there's no autotune on his next record, actually.

The 80's was a fucking excellent time for punk / hardcore, Nirvana at their best, and the real manifestation of hip hop.

I understand that it really wasn't a hip-hop album, and I'm sure he has made that clarification, even though I haven't heard it directly. Still, I hate the direction he took his music, along with Lil Wayne(To a more annoying extent). If anyone can make a song where it sounds like their singing, than what is really the point in making music? You can say the lyrics take talent to write, but a lot of times the lyrics are either written by someone else or controlled by the record company. Why learn to control your voice if you can just pitch-correct? Why sign a talented artist when you can take anyone and auto-tune it to the point where it sounds well sung?

Surell 10-15-2009 09:29 PM

Autotune doesn't sound well sung. It sounds like a robot on codeine.

yes but I was referring to the SOUND of the 80's. the 80's sound was hair metal. not that all that other stuff wasn't out. but it wasn't the FAD.

in hip hop as of now, yes. but with the explosion of auto-tune, and the general acceptance the public has shown to it, producers will get better to it. for a long time now, people have been using pitch correction in other genres, but now its advancing to a point where we don't even need good source material.

Surell 10-16-2009 05:07 PM

I don't think it'll become that widely accepted. Rock bands using autotune? It just doesn't sounds like it's gonna happen to me. It may be accepted in Hip Hop, but I think it's just a fad. Even Kanye's about to let it go, and him and Lil Wayne are the main ones I can think of that use it.

Kirby 10-16-2009 05:50 PM

^ Lil Wayne's new mixtape will have no autotune.

auto-tune has been used in music for years before T-Pain got a hold of it. They used it with a lot more "class" if that's the word for it. It wasn't plastered across the entire song to where it sounds like a six-year old boy on crack, but it was still there. But it was still there to get a voice up a little to really hit that note home, or to make that note hold longer.

Jester 10-16-2009 09:53 PM

Yeah yeah, Graduation sucks, 808's & Heartbreak sucks MAJORLY, but how can a hip hop fan hate that? Colorful productions, and just... Fun, charismatic rapping that you want to cheer for.

Or:

I don't believe My Face Can't Be Felt had any autotune, and that's the last one I remember him putting out. But coolzville. When did you start staying on top of Lil Wayne's output anyway?

Oh yeah, T Pain! How'd i forget that guy.???

Annnyway. Yeah, I understand that they used it before, but for (somewhat) more legitimate reasons. I take from it that you think autotune will become a prevalent force in music; I doubt people would really like hearing nasty autotune voice coming out on every song. Good singing voices are still appreciated, ya dig?

I understand the point your making and good singing voices will be appreciated. While the talent will still be out there, eventually auto-tune and audio-manipulation software like it will become advanced to the point where we can "create" a good singing voice out nothing, or out of a random voice that says some lyrics. I think music will follow a path much like we see with photo-enhancement software creating unrealistic standards for magazine ads out of good looking but average women. While "auto-tune" as it exists now will likely burn out and die(According to Jay-Z) I think that programs like it will continue to be a force in music. And yes, for the most part before the current outbreak of auto-tune and vocoder, it was used much more modestly to tweak the pitch slightly to make it sound more appealing.

I just happened across the info earlier this week.
