Somehow I never got round to listening to Deltron 3030 so I didn't have any idea about the new release (The first album has been bookmarked for over a year now).
Will check Deltron 3030 out ASAP!

Really looking forward to this. 3030 was really groundbreaking for the time and added some much needed experimentation in hip hop. I'm sure to keep this on spin for awhile. One of my favorites in hip hop, I always liked his flow and timing.

Anyone who wants to earn brownie points with me, count the number of times Del says "know what I'm saying" in this video.
As far as living up to the hype... I dunno, it's hard to say. It's been 12-years since Deltron 3030 came out and if last year's Duke Nukem Forever was any indication, you need something more than just hype for a project that has been in the works for so long. I enjoyed the hell out of "Brothers Will Have To Fight" despite the less than stellar production, however as it's just a demo I'm assuming that will be cleaned up for the final product. I'm looking forward to it, and I'll judge it according to its own merits, and not on whether or not I thought it was worth the wait. |

I've been watching out for this for ages and ages and still listen to the original Deltron 3030 just about once a month at least. It's one of my most listened to albums of all time, and I'll support Del, Dan the Automator, and Kid Koala no matter what the album sounds like. I have high hopes from the samples and so on that I've heard already.

Del has been going downhill for a while. There's no way this will be as good as 3030.
Btw that Planet of the Hard Headed Holograms track is pretty wack.

That's a matter of opinion. I agree that it probably won't beat the original, but I don't expect that anyway. I just want more material. And I think Del has been producing very enjoyable music and lyrics recently, even if it's not as great as his older work. I'd take Del's new albums, such as Automatik Statik or It Ain't illegal Yet over the crap on the radio still, or even cats like Das Racist (respect), Evidence, and some of the other new guys coming out (no disrespect). I think it's a matter of expectations. I'm perfectly happy with whatever they come up with. And I think it will be very enjoyable.

I don't think I've ever loved a musician enough to support their bad music. Del kind of sucks now. I've come to terms with it. No offense to the producers you named, the problem is the rapper.

If I had the time I'd hunt down and bring up his recent lyrics. But in short, I've listened to every album he has and have no problem supporting his recent albums. I don't even think they suck, I just agree that they're not as good as his older works. I think his lyricism is still on point. I also think Del is still better to this day than 90% of other rappers out. To each their own. Some people are dismayed that he can't continue to be perfect, just above average. But I wouldn't rank his lyricism or flow "average" or "poor" and am confident Deltron II will be highly enjoyable. When I said I would enjoy it no matter what, that's because I'm confident that it will be above average, even if not perfect like Deltron I. It's hard to beat one of the best hip hop albums of all time.

Okay, I get that you like Del... a lot. That's fine, I used to as well. It's got nothing to do with comparisons of his current stuff to his old stuff or to anybody else's. I just don't enjoy the raps he makes now. He's an adorable guy and all, but just doesn't sound good to me. I don't know what it is exactly but he's lost something. I still wish him well though. He's lucky to have fans like you.
