Anyway, R.I.P. Not going to try and pretend he was a personal favourite, only own one song of his, but still a sad loss nonetheless.

I think his point was that this was the first time he'd ever heard of Heavy D, not necessarily heard a Heavy D rap. Hope that helps.

As for his passing, certainly a loss for the rap community and music as a whole.
