Default Myka 9 appreciation post

One of the most stylistically advanced rappers of all-time, hailing from L.A. and is best known as a member of Freestyle Fellowship--one of the best, most criminally slept on hip hop groups of all-time. Myka's arguably the greatest freestyle rapper there is, he was one of the creators of the pastime of freestyling meaning improvised rap. He also gave birth to the half rapped, half sung delivery employed by ODB or Bone Thugz.

Here's a bunch of random tracks from different time periods (from early 90's to as recent as 2011)

the release party's going down oct 8th, first i don't remember how many people get in free, if you make a reservation or something. then it's only like 10 bucks.

i'd go... but you have to be 21 or older. whack.

and the 3rd Magic Heart Genies album is coming out soon I believe...

I love Magic Heart Genies. Myka 9 is in my top 3 of all time. His album Timetable is one of my favorites, I love how he raps over jazz beats, and I really love his freestyle work. I'm glad he's getting some buzz for once. Magic Heart Genies is current but not picking up any steam really. They've got the least amount of listeners on last.fm than any other rapper/group I know. I feel bad, cuz their music is sick. Great party tunes, 420 tunes, relaxing by yourself. It's good. Here's a few more songs...

Saw a MHG show in San Francisco. Smoked with Myka 9, that sealed the deal ... big fan now. J the Sarge is also an exceptional rapper and really chlll fellow. He can hold his own really well, but with Myka they're a great duo.
