das racist
anyone listen to relax yet?
I'm not sure how i feel about it, it's not as catchy as sit down man, and more obscure cryptic satire in the vein of shut up dude, but pretty trippy production. all they have on youtube is this little snippet but it's out |
I heard the new El-P featured track "Shut Up, Man" on Soundcloud. Hearing "Sit Down, Man" got me into Das Racist, and the second El-P feature kills it.
But I still rock "Who's That Broooown", "Ek Shaneesh", "Rainbow in the Dark", "Nutmeg", "People Are Strange", and "You Can Sell Anything". Das Racist only took me two or three songs before I realized the fun in it. They're having fun, we're having fun. |

Like this song alot

I didn't like it at first listen, but now I've come around. I really like Shut Up Man, Happy Rappy, Rainbow in the Dark, Celebration, and Girl.

Heems, one half of the group is preparing a solo mixtape. Here's my favorite from what I've heard before. It sounds more grounded and less experimental then Relax which is good.
If there is one thing that seperates Das Racist/Heems sound from others it's the quality of their little voice splotches/samples in the background. About 50 seconds in you can hear heems saying in a dry monotone "the boys are back...the boys are back" Which is super funny to me. It's the exact opposite of the thin lizzy style, it's like anti-bro. Love it. ****ing burger |
"Yeah, I'm f*cking great at rapping"
Best line in any song ever...? |
Happy Rappy, Rainbow in the Dark, Shut Up, Man, and Power are my favourites. Very entertaining lyrics - very good album. Agreed Clancy.

I'm not really sure why it took me so long to really check these guys out. I'm with Mrd00d and CanwllCorfe. I wasn't sure what to make of it at the start (the first songs that I heard were Taco Bell Pizza Hut and Michael Jackson, which I still hate actually) but realized what they were about pretty soon. Some good lyricism comes through, but they're mainly just straight-up cool to me.
My favourite tracks are: (Lakutis has one of the best intros I've ever heard, along with that "Just, like, pretend you know what I'm talking about, you know?") |
