he produced a lot of illmatic, but is most well known for Gangstarr.

He's produced lotsa people tho

yeah I'm pretty sure you've heard Primo beats before.

His beats are very top notch and stand out.

He did alot of work with M.O.P. as well.

Is not. But i'll give it another listen for sure, it's been a good while. That and Gangstarr. And Chameleon, i'll definnitely check out that discography.

I love me some Dr. Dre, although I don't really have enough experience in the genre to back that up. I haven't heard much of his work beyond N.W.A and his solo stuff but since that's almost all uniformly nice I give him some props. I probably listen to the Chronic more than I should, but it always just sounds so good. I usually turn it off before the album ends though because it loses steam part way through...

Also, sometimes he raps pretty well. I didn't realize that until I listened to his part of N.W.A's 100 Miles and Runnin', but he pulls off an aggressive rap rather well there. Haven't been impressed by his rap skills otherwise, but that doesn't ruin the experience of listening to him.
