They're probably isn't, but he still did it, which is why its great.

Captain beefheart didn't have rhyme or reason, but people still praise trout mask replica 50 years later.

It's because lil b is hip hop which makes what he's doing "dumb" by default. This genre needs somebody to create some breathing room for weirdness, and thats why I'm "dickriding" all these "bad" artists, like OFWG lil b, kreayshawn or whatever. You don't have to be the best, just do something different PLZ!

so many quotes lol

I love hip hop, so I doubt the genre has anything to do with it.

Wasn't Captain Beefheart praised for his musical composition and not his lyrics? Plus, it's easier to appreciate him now that we've seen how he influenced music. Maybe Lil B will be the same?

Personally, I still don't like Trout Mask Replica much.

That wasn't directed at you personally.

Hah, sorry but that just about summed up everything I ever thought about Lil B fans.

I fail to see how Lil B is that much different from... anybody. Prove me wrong, please. I want the same thing.

The top 10 most beastly MC's are as follows (in no particular order):

Chino XL
Canibus
Immortal Technique
R.A. The Rugged Man
Lil' Wayne
Brother Ali
Eminem
Royce 'Da 5'9''
Ill Bill
Mos Def

I like these rappers for their ability to tell a story with their raps, as well as evoking specific emotions and imagery. When you close your eyes and listen to one of their tracks, you can see a movie in your head.

I also have trouble finding some intrinsic value in Lil' B's music. Just saying whatever pops into your head with neither rhyme nor reason isn't very hard, nor very fun to listen to.

I 'get' Lil B a lot more than I used to. I see how he is just mocking things and being goofy, and sometimes it's funny. But if I found it absolutely hilarious, I could never legit put him in the same category as 'real' rappers. Lil B doesn't wanna be a rapper, he wants to be a celebrity. He isn't actually talented with rhyming and matious is either deaf or an epic troll.

Like I understand being like "haha man lil b has some funny lines" but it's like you have an all out obsession with him and really think he is a genius or something.

Name me another positivity promoting, openly feminine, young commercial rapper who is willing to be gay whether it's a stint for publicity or not.

Yet you list lil wayne as one of your all time greats, go figure.

Look even i don't have the stamina to keep arguing in defense of this guy, I'm more arguing to promote anything that isn't gang focused, sexist, bull**** rap

You guys are all inevitably going to have to judge this guy as a real artist in the years to come.

That's fair. I will admit that I like Lil' Wayne, even putting him in my top 10. Probably closer to the bottom of the list, but top 10 nonetheless. I think that Wayne has a more consistant style than Lil' B, but he obviously has a much larger catalog to pick and choose from, so the odds are kind of stacked against Lil' B in that respect. There's lots of rappers that I like, yet others think they are utter crap. Much respect for sticking to your guns my friend
