Didn't know about this feature

And if you haven't heard me raving about them or read my concert review, Palaceer and Baba are the best living performers in the galaxy right now. I'm really not exaggerating when I say that passing up a chance to see them live is a worse decision than deciding to get hooked on heroin. It is very much an other-worldly experience. They were absolutely bananas for the entire show and the crowd was going ape shit for every second that they were playing.

Or to put it as my friend did when discussing Palaceer: "I'm pretty sure that he's met aliens and they sucked his dick."

The surreal way that they blend it is honestly very similar to their shows. Lese Majesty has that flow more than any of their other albums, but Black Up has it in both an understated and flamboyant way with their improvisations and beat switches, respectively.

Much love for Digable but I see them and SP as two very different animals, even if I still put Shabazz on another level. They're basically connected at the aorta as a duo and **** man, they make it so wet and tight.

Sometimes I’m thinking this is other worldly and mystical

But sometimes the beats and hooks make me think didn’t Deee Lite do this already...

Like I’m not as taken by it as Moor Mother not that it’s contest or whatev

Moor Mother is certainly great, but she does have a lot of Shabazz influence in her music fwiw. She also goes in a darker, noisier direction while Shabazz goes hard on the groove, dope bass, and kicks.

Let's set up a few bots to spam Sub Pop to hire Moor Mother to collab with Shabazz. Hopefully she doesn't drive away THEESatisfaction, they bring a lot to Shabazz's music.

If they're coming around your area definitely do not miss em.

Going through Moor Mother’s releases on BandCamp I hope she keeps doing what she’s doing.

Two things I’d rather see her not do is get friendlier production or go more poetry slam.

I’m not forgetting that you introduced me to Moor Mother

I don’t know I’m sort of ****ed up now

I like Moor Mother best of all the hip hop that’s new to me from at least the last 5 years

Depends on how you define friendly production. Tracks like By the Light go hard but stick to a conventional DG industrial hip hop vibe, so if she followed that familiar sound I'd be down with it, but if you mean blindly clinging to trends then yes. Funny how that would have been considered ironic 2 or 3 years ago. As per slam poetry, I agree but only in the sense of delivery. Her politics are interesting enough to serve as song material and if it comes from a genuine and personal place it can be great.

That's respectable but I do separate MM and SP quite a bit even though they're both modern hip hop artists, but I have to say that Shabazz is more of a game changer. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, but still: if you like hip hop at all and haven't spent much time with Shabazz Palaces then you should definitely rectify that.

Well I’ve listened to their records mostly on account of you. I knew about Digable Planets I think pretty much from their onset. It seems like plenty of time to impress. 25 years, right?

For Digable, sure, but I've only been prepping Shabazz for about 6 months to a year.
