It's the same formulaic punchlines. They do not rap about different content and the timing varies song to song for both artist,neither has consistent timing or anything.

I think the car theme was because the name of the album was Trunk Muzik. Did you stop to think about that? he has some other tracks that aren't car related. I'm pretty sure his next album isn't going to have mostly car related tracks it's not just something he does.

I disagree with you on the whole race card thing as well. You didn't even touch on his rapping speed but I know that you aren't really impressed with that so I guess you didn't mention it. I think that is also part of the reason that he's getting the attention that he is atm. It was a great idea to include him in WorldWide Choppers track.

Okay, I understand that. I just feel that there are more solid tracks on the first album and he could have made plenty more singles from that album that would get constant radio play.

I like Drake and will listen to him from time to time but I know that he sounds similar to Wayne. The major difference is that Drake has the whole sing songy thing going for similar to Kid Cudi where he can sing and his rapping "skills" are so so.

All rappers use different timing and use formulas to create punchlines, metaphors and similies in their raps. You may as well be saying that all rappers sound alike, or that all rappers suck.

Again, how he is portrayed to the public or his target demographic still has nothing to do with his actual talent, only the way that his talent is perceived by certain people. People who can listen to music and judge it on its merit (like most of us on here) can see it for what it is. If you knew nothing about Drake's past and heard one of his songs out of the blue, you would still hate it. You wouldn't say "I don't like his music, it sounds like somthing that an ex-child star would put out."

Not all rappers use the same generic formula(lets call it "YMCM^2011") for their punchlines over and over and over and over

When your a pop artist, how you are perceived is everything. He has to make sure his sound is in line with the latest trends. He isn't making music to be judged on, he is making music that is consumable and universal,and following in the foot steps of other successful artists is a guaranteed way of doing that.

tbh, his speed is not really all that impressive to me, Busta Rhymes and even Chris Brown in "Look at Me Now" >>> most of Yela's rhymes. that and he doesn't keep up that speed for long. i get if a rapper doesn't want to or can't keep it up for an entire song, but most of the time he can't even go half a verse without slowing down.

i also agree with the enunciation thing he does, matious. listening to him for long sounds like daggers hitting my ears with every word that he just HAS to pronounce fully.

I think the thing with drake's acting career is he doesn't have the same background as the other guys, therefore he can't relate and be real. Thus, he is fake.

I don't know how much of Drake that you have listened to but on his album he doesn't pretend to be hood or street or anything along those lines. He raps about what he knows so I don't get that whole "oh he's fake and doesn't deserve to be a rapper" feel that you are talking about.
