I'll probably be giving this a listen because I guess it's kinda required if you want to talk about hip hop at all.

Also, can somebody explain why Kendrick does that stupid old man voice? Man he really shoots himself in the foot with strange and completely horrendous decisions. I mean that last "track" should be banished to the depths of hell but for some reason he's actually put it on his real life album.

His vocals have been annoying me in a few places. For Free & the track Frownland was talking about.

I think the latest is great, his best yet. But that last track is pretty much garbage.

Goofle 03-17-2015 04:42 PM

It wasn't "pretty garbage". It was absolutely atrocious and had no business being on an album.

whaaaa?

Frownland 03-18-2015 09:55 AM

The first six minutes of that was great, including the spoken word bit but that next six minutes of chatting with Tupac was unnecessary. The album was already like seventy minutes long, who needs that filler?

Goofle 03-18-2015 10:23 AM

Yeah to be fair I didn't realise it was part of a 12 minute song.

Josef K 03-18-2015 11:10 AM

Ehhh, the line or two about Michael Jackson is a little icky. I do think the first six minutes are okay, although the album has maybe gone on a little long by then, but really the Tupac stuff is just stupid.

Weirdly, I enjoyed it less after a couple more listens. There's less going on there than it first seems. The Needle Drop gave it a 10! But then he's an absolute tool so I guess that was to be expected. I do like the album a lot, but is it really as experimental as people are making it out to be? Plenty of Hip-hop artists have tread similar ground, and it's hardly a revolutionary sound. It seems that popular Hip-hop artists get given credit for doing something even slightly left-field. Having said that, it's probably a solid 8/10.

Goofle 03-18-2015 01:34 PM

I knew he would give it a 10. If any other artist came out with this exact album you know for a fact that he wouldn't be giving it a perfect score.
