Engine, you sound like the cranky old man down the street waving his cane at the kids playing their music from their cars at loud volumes.
"It's just noise! It's all just noise! Dadgummit! Get offa my lawn you damn kids!" You're entitled to your opinion, but if all you're doing is repeatedly saying, "This sucks and you probably suck for listening to it," then your opinion can stay out of the thread. You want people to have fun? Leave them here, so they can have fun, without your disapproving glances over their shoulders. And I'm not a huge fan either, by the way. I enjoy listening every once in awhile, and for the record, I think that the way MC Ride is creating this manic hobo character is brilliant.

So I'm not supposed to mention a counterpoint to the love here and say that this rapper is not brilliant in the least?
Shit, I already told the fans to go have fun with it. I hope they do. They obviously already are. As for my perceived personal profile -- Imagine how many inane posts I might have under my name if I stepped into every thread and said something like "I don't like this, n'yah!" Mine would rival Il Duce's number of inane posts (just to cite an obvious example of a poster who makes far too many pointless posts) because I hate so much of the music that people go on about here in general. Bad music doesn't offend me and I usually don't wave my walking stick at it. There's just something about this Death Grips thing that bothers more than normal bad music does. I suppose it's that I particularly want to voice my opinion against it, not just because I don't like it but because it makes me ashamed of hip-hop (one of my favorite music styles) when people are hyping this stuff in the way that they are (like "you just don't understand the underground scene" etc.) I'm stopping here before people start flying off the handle or falling asleep but my point is that, to me, this is NOT GOOD hip-hop even if the rapper looks all freaky. His flow is not distinct or good. The production is basically garbage but the rapper has a weird beard and tattoos so he grabs a lot of fascination. It's bull****. Death Grips is bad hip-hop and I don't care who likes them or doesn't. I'm not calling their fans names and I apologize if that's what I've done. This is my last word on the topic: Enjoy Death Grips during its short-lived popularity. Talk to me about them in a year if anybody still cares and I'd love to re-discuss them. If they make any good albums, I'll want to discuss them because I'm a fan of offbeat hip-hop so long as it's good. Until then, stay off of my lawn because I'm not your shepherd. As of today they're no good. Have fun with this fad, rap fans, and I mean that sincerely. The beloved Death Grips thread is now safe from my comments. I won't chime in again.

I'm not a massive fan, but when I'm in the mood I think they're purty cool. Definitely something unique that I've never heard before...

anyone perplexed as to why the band's undertaking two studio albums in the same year.
Yes, I'm aware of the label switch but surely it's asking too much for another album the quality of The Money Store this early. Heard they were mixing it in China so possible Asian influences? |

I'm more worried about their new album being more of a B-sides compilation of stuff that was left on the cutting floor during the production of The Money Store. I'm guessing Epic is hoping to capitalize on the band's sudden fame as quickly as possible, or maybe these guys are just really that bursting with ideas. In either case there's not a lot more hip hop coming out this year that I'm into so I'll take another Death Grips album.
