I can see why death grips wouldn't be considered hip hop. that's not a shot at them or anything but they don't really have any similarities to the genre besides they rap as far as I understand. but I know weve had this convo about grime too

Jenny Death was cool, not the revelation I was hoping for, but it was cool. On GP is still my favorite.
At least I know that with Death Grips I can always expect to hear textures my ears have never felt before, and they consistently bring that.
