OH I did give this album a listen to but I didn't give a little write up on it.
I loved this from beginning to end. He had me hooked on the first track and as I was listening, I was waiting for some filler tracks or something but I didn't hear any. TBH, I haven't listened to Del or any of his other aliases but I really like his humor and flow. Any recs on what other album I should listen to from him or maybe from Deltron 3030? |
I swear we had this thread already....

For all the hate for a free album, this was a solid release. From beginning to end, it slams us in the face with attitude. The opening track, Get it Right Now, has quickly become a concert staple. It flows great on album, and great at shows. I've seen him perform it three times already. The production is different. It's not too complicated, but in its simplicity, it is very unique. Almost reminds of sitting on a video game loading screen sometimes. You'd have to see for yourself. I highly recommend these tracks: "Land of Funk", "Young Adrenaline", "Sometimes I Gotta Get Stupid", Go Against the Grain", "Hardcore Punks Can't Take It" @DJCham I also highly recommend the albums Both Sides of the Brain, Automatik Statik, It Aint Illegal Yet, Future Development, anything he does man! Even his oldest stuff. |

I really like Del but I think he's gotten consistently worse from the beginning (with Deltron 3030 as the best, although that's not exactly a solo album).
I don't like that song posted up there. The production is so soulless and repetitive. And he matches that with repetitive, unimaginative lyrics. I hate saying this because I really just like the guy and want to like his music. I was even disappointed by most of Both Sides of the Brain and everything subsequent bores me. I'm so sorry to say this -- I don't like his music anymore. If that song is the best of the bunch then I doubt I could even get through this latest album. |

I really like I Wish My Brother George was Here and No Need for Alarm - then I was blown away by Deltron and everything that I heard later disappointed me steadily. |
Yeah i remember seeing an interview with him a couple years ago, and he was talking about intentionally dumbing down his sound to appeal to more people or something like that.
I'm just curious to see what deltron 2 will sound like, if it ever actually comes out. |

And also, Del has been steady releasing info on Deltron II every few months since Fall/Winter. Additionally, there are two or three Deltron II tracks on youtube already. And there's a behind the scenes making of Deltron II video, about 10 mins. of Del at work recording... So yea, it's coming out.... |

This was the interview i was thinking of. Yeah after re-watching it i interpreted it wrong, it bothers me that he doesn't try to get deep , though he might just be selling himself short Quote:
Those tracks on youtube are actually really good though |
Nice interview dude... here's my piece:
It's unlisted. Only those with the link can see it, apparently... and like he said, he gets deep here and there, in between the lines. It's just he doesn't just make concept albums all the time. He still drops raw wisdom, even on this free album. |
I think Del is great but I'm really not into anything after Eleventh Hour . Both Sides Of The Brain is great, Hieroglyphics, and of course Deltron. I think he is really cool and all but as much as I hate to sya it I think he is washed up. I'm still looking forward to deltron II just like everyone else though.

I won't be able to find it now - but I remember an old article or interview where he talked about how Ice Cube (his cousin) tried to encourage him to rap about gangsta shit instead of the more truthful, personal things that Del preferred. I'm at least glad Del stuck to that philosophy. But it annoys me when he spends a whole song making cheap battle rhymes and repeating choruses about how all other MCs are worse than him. Boring. |
Yeah, Del's pretty overrated. It's doubtful that Deltron II will live up to the first, but at least it'll be better than anything else he's put out.

Just given this album a listen and didn't think much of it, nothing compared to Del's other albums.
