Big K.R.I.T.

Just recently goturned on to this guy. He has sort of an Outkast type vibe on the stuff i've heard and it's pretty dope.

djchameleon 04-23-2011 10:24 PM

yeah, I first heard this guy on the XXL freshmen mixtape.

At first I didn't think he stood out enough for my liking amongst some of the others but he's pretty good.

Phantom Limb 04-24-2011 06:04 PM

Yeah, the Return of 4eva mixtape is pretty solid all the way through, but that's the only thing i've heard from him.

djchameleon 04-24-2011 06:07 PM

Yeah I just downloaded it today and I'm going to give it a thorough listen through.

Bison11 04-25-2011 10:30 PM

K.R.I.T. Wuz Here and Return of 4eva are both incredible. I am pretty sure that he does his own production too. I love his beats and the way he rhymes. Great southern rapper.

RoemerMW 04-26-2011 09:45 PM

Just listened to Return of 4eva, loved it. Favorite hip hop album this year for sure.

I thought that "Man On Fire" was the best song on that XXL mixtape, downloading his mixtape now. I think he stood out more than any of the other XXL Freshmen.

really? I didn't feel that way at all, that he stood out.

Heshisphresh 05-01-2011 10:24 PM

In my opinion, Yelawolf and Big K.R.I.T both stood out because their southern roots. That southern beat always stands out in my idea and really helps them stand out from the bunch.

djchameleon 05-01-2011 10:36 PM

I agree with YelaWolf, he stood out and sounded like a polished professional that already put years in.

Antonio 05-09-2011 10:57 PM

checked him out on Return to 4eva. dude's got a really good message, and his beats...goddamn are they good.

[MERIT] 05-09-2011 11:31 PM

I've only heard him contribute a couple of verses to some Chris Webby tracks, but I was impressed nonetheless. He has a good southern rap sound.

Big K.R.I.T.

His new mix tape, 4Eva N A Day is available for a free download here.

Return Of 4 Eva, was one of my favourite albums of 2011 so I am looking forward to listening to this thing.

Goofle 03-05-2012 11:49 AM

Love this track, and it sound's like he has been influenced by the likes of Burial. None of the others really have the same sort of production, but it's a f*cking great album on first listen.

Goofle 03-05-2012 12:59 PM

Seriously loving this album.

Goofle 03-05-2012 05:27 PM

Nobody has anything to say about Big K.R.I.T.?

Phantom Limb 03-05-2012 06:08 PM

Cause there's already a thread.
http://www.musicbanter.com/rap-hip-h...g-k-r-i-t.html

Goofle 03-05-2012 06:28 PM

Either way... And I searched the EXACT title of that thread and nothing came up :(

Phantom Limb 03-05-2012 06:36 PM

Yeah, the search engine on here sucks.

Btw I just downloaded the new mixtape and Imma give it a listen.

Goofle 05-21-2012 01:15 PM

Big K.R.I.T.- “Yeah Dats Me”*|*The Needle Drop

AOTY So Far

LoathsomePete 04-26-2013 12:01 PM

Jesus this guy is prolific.

djchameleon 04-26-2013 12:05 PM

Damn, thanks for the heads up. I feel like I missed out since I didn't get it earlier.

Goofle 04-26-2013 12:07 PM

And so so so so unbelievably consistent. Not put out anything below a 6 out of 10 in my opinion. In fact, I think he averages near enough 8/10 for five albums on my RYM page.

I listened to it today. Some things just pass you by.

SGR 04-27-2013 05:30 AM

I got this a week or two ago when it was released and I been spinning it since. Like Goofle said, this guy is consistent and this might be his most quality and cohesive album yet. The only problem I have with it is that KRIT doesn't really grow here. Although yes, it's possibly his most solid work, it's also very similar to previous outings and it doesn't show a whole lot of growth or expansion on KRIT's part. Although that isn't necessarily a detriment to this specific project, just something I thought was noteworthy.

14232949 04-27-2013 03:18 PM

I listened to it yesterday as well. Not as instantly memorable as Return of 4EVA, but as you're all saying, still keeping within his consistency for releasing solid records.
I particularly liked the song that was sampling James Blake. There's some new ideas in here, but for the most part I think K.R.I.T plays it safe. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy what he does but I'd be interested for him to go out and do something completely different.

Goofle 04-27-2013 05:03 PM

4Eva N a Day is still my favourite of his but this is darn close.

Yeah, I'd love for KRIT to do something that just completely surprises us for his next project.

OccultHawk 06-24-2019 08:34 PM

You love yourself some Big KRIT, don’t you?

OccultHawk 07-13-2019 06:58 PM

Listening now. Potentially his best.

OccultHawk 07-15-2019 07:45 PM

The last track MISSISSIPPI is kind of a miss

I thought this is how you want to end the record? Really?

OccultHawk 07-15-2019 08:05 PM

I like the song Outer Space.
