Wiz Khalifa?

Give me your thoughts on Wiz khalifa ?

Antonio 04-17-2011 01:16 PM

Kush & OJ is good, mainly for the beats though. i'm not big on his voice either, and that laugh he does in some songs just sounds forced and obnoxious. other than that he's a pretty meh rapper tbh.

DoctorSoft 04-17-2011 03:05 PM

Black and Yellow is ill yo.

djchameleon 04-17-2011 05:47 PM

I just got finished watching his live performance at Coachella and it was okay.

I like his new album though Rolling Papers. The thing about black and yellow is that it sky rocketed him back into the mainstream and everything things he is new but he's been out for awhile and his latest album is actually his fourth.

He also does loads of mixtapes but those are kind of sketchy and they usually aren't that great.

pooka 04-17-2011 05:49 PM

hes an alright guy in person, but i could care less about his hill district rap.

djchameleon 04-17-2011 05:50 PM

hill district rap?

what is that?

pooka 04-17-2011 05:56 PM

the part of pittsburgh where khalfia is from.

djchameleon 04-17-2011 05:58 PM

ooh okay

his laugh annoys me sometimes....the whole stoner laugh.

I rather listen to Jadakiss' HA HA than listen to that drivel

pooka 04-17-2011 06:00 PM

what are you saying? wiz sucks? bwahahahaaa!

djchameleon 04-17-2011 06:02 PM

no, where did I say that he sucks?

didn't you see that I was talking about his laugh?

pooka 04-17-2011 06:03 PM

hence the laugh. :D

pooka 04-17-2011 06:07 PM

I like that he has made pot addiction socially acceptable and cool. The Snoop Dogg comparison couldn't be more on point. Both are extremely limited rappers, but are pretty funny icons, though Wiz has been "douchin" it up a bit lately.

Seriously, why go out of your way to hate blunts so much >: [

Black and Yellow is a tune. I like him.

myjestik 04-23-2011 08:49 PM

people seem to forget that he has a classic album called show and prove.

No, they think he just came out with Black and Yellow and that's it.

Everything he did before that doesn't really count since he wasn't as commercially successful with that album.

Phantom Limb 04-24-2011 06:36 PM

Is show and prove any better than his later stuff, because I haven't been too impressed with kush and orange juice or rolling papers.

Surell 04-25-2011 06:39 PM

how could someone hate blunts? they're so tasty and burn so nice.

All of his mixtapes built him up to what he is today. Without those mixtapes and the buzz that came along with them, he'd be nowhere near to what he is right now.
You're right about him not being "commercially" successful, but he had (and still has) a huge underground following.

Antonio 06-21-2011 08:50 PM

listening to Wiz Khalifa's Show and Prove(1st album)....and now at this point i'm operating under the assumption that all that weed he smoked killed his brain cells and made him a sh*tty rapper by the time Kush & OJ came out

So if someone does a commercially unsuccessful album, they don't count?
There are a lot of albums that are now considered classic which were commercially unsuccessful originally.

that wasn't the context of why I was saying it.

It was related to the new fans that he gained through being commercially successful.

Yes, it is considered a classic to his core fans that knew him way before Black and Yellow but the new fans don't know anything about it and it being a classic didn't help him become commercially successful.

Unrelenting 06-25-2011 08:19 AM

Just tried giving Rolling Papers a listen. Jesus christ it was bad

wtmtss 07-07-2011 01:53 PM

I think hes a pretty good rapper but he's sort of inconsistent. Sometimes he'll put a really sick couple of songs out and all the other songs are very average.

djchameleon 07-09-2011 06:10 AM

Whenever Wiz is on a feature, he usually steps up and proves that he has some skill but on his solo efforts, he's pretty so so about it.
