No, they think he just came out with Black and Yellow and that's it.

Everything he did before that doesn't really count since he wasn't as commercially successful with that album.

Is show and prove any better than his later stuff, because I haven't been too impressed with kush and orange juice or rolling papers.

All of his mixtapes built him up to what he is today. Without those mixtapes and the buzz that came along with them, he'd be nowhere near to what he is right now.
You're right about him not being "commercially" successful, but he had (and still has) a huge underground following.

listening to Wiz Khalifa's Show and Prove(1st album)....and now at this point i'm operating under the assumption that all that weed he smoked killed his brain cells and made him a sh*tty rapper by the time Kush & OJ came out

So if someone does a commercially unsuccessful album, they don't count?
There are a lot of albums that are now considered classic which were commercially unsuccessful originally.

that wasn't the context of why I was saying it.

It was related to the new fans that he gained through being commercially successful.

Yes, it is considered a classic to his core fans that knew him way before Black and Yellow but the new fans don't know anything about it and it being a classic didn't help him become commercially successful.
