I've already seen some "he was today's Tupac" comments in the wake of his death. Is every rapper just a Agent Smith-esque clone of Tupac that transforms back into him when they die?

A lot of artist seem to get elevated after death. I dunno why, I bet there's even a name for it.

Kind of. I mean, they don't become successful at anything other than being dead. But they get recognition because society has a martyr fetish. Like, I don't think Phife Dawg blowing up like this despite the oncoming Tribe album because he died over diabetes. But a rapper gets shot or ODs and they become a martyr.

Learning someone you listen to died a few days prior to you finding out is very strange. I didn't even know about it until about a day ago. Well that sucks
