It is tough to say but I would argue that God's Son by Nas is one of the great albums.

Shabazz Palaces' Black Up was definitely one of the best (at least new) albums I've heard in a long time, even outside of Hip Hop. It's really a total package, great rhyming, beats, but still unique and timeless.

My hands down favorite album in musical history has to
be Celph Titled & Buckwild's: Nineteen Ninety Now.
This album has some of the best production I've ever
heard and Celph Titled is probably my favorite (living) emcee.
Don't sleep on this album if you haven't heard it yet.

Not sure its my favorite hip-hop album but started listening to 'Illmatic' again, that album will never leave me, it just has such a raw hip-hop sound to it.

De La Soul - Stakes Is High
Or, Common - Be

If I had to pick a new favorite though?
Ab-Soul - Control System
I could easily see that album as being my favorite when I have some years to reflect on it's beauty and genius.
