My 2 cents... The production values were great, the song itself was really chill, and although some aspects of the video were a little overplayed, I was very impressed. Props to to cinematographer man.
Sorry my opinion isn't more detailed, it's hard to really break things down on a mobile device. |

He posted a topic with a rap music video in it to discuss in the hip hop section. This is the same exact way basically every other artist's topic is made, but this one might get deleted because he happens to be the one who made the video? It's just another topic. |

It's not a rule. It's a judgment call I made because when you post about your own music it's likely to be marked as spam and deleted. I saw that this guy was coming back and just wanted opinions on his video, so why wouldn't I put it in the songwriting section?
Stone Birds, for example, doesn't post about his own music in the folk forum. He posts in the songwriting thread. If we allow every Tom, Dick and Harry to start a topic on their own band outside the songwriting forum the boards would be swallowed with spam. |

I'm glad you had good enough judgment to let the topic be, but I mean... He posted a hip hop video in the hip hop section, and the only reason you were contemplating deleting it was because the person who owns the account happens to have been a part of making the video. If he hadn't specified that, you wouldn't have thought about deleting it. I'm glad you didn't and appreciate your good judgment, but it's still a stupid rule, because there was no reason to really take it as spam. He posted a music video; he wasn't trying to get us to register anywhere else or go anywhere else or anything. |

Right, Jester. I know what you're saying. But truth is we get "hey we are a new band check us out" threads all the time and we have no choice but to delete them per the rule about self promotion. That's why I said I was ready to mark it as spam.
