Too true. The Beasties' last album was pretty killer too, has a real gritty, kind of experimental sound to it.

Paul's Boutique was genius. Can't get tired of that album.

Gonna have to torrent some Beasties. Listened to their "Greatest Hits" or whatever many times but been a while since listening to a full album.

They had a run of albums that were all pretty much equally genius IMO. Paul's just had that crazy sampling courtesy of the Dust Brothers.

I'm sure you've heard PB, but if I'm wrong, you gotta check it out. Fantastic sampling, some pretty hot lines/verses, and even a huge rap suite at the end. But Ill Comm is super jazzy, closer to the Roots someone mentioned earlier - well, in the fact that it's live Hip Hop. They can play, though, and I think it has one of their ill punk tracks on it. Hot Sauce Committee 2 sure does, as well as a nice song with Nas on the hook. It's one of my favorites, personally. I like CYH too but not quite as much as the others.

CunninLynguists
Jedi Mind Tricks

Vinnie Paz has some solid albums out, especially, "God of the Serengeti".

Kno's, "Death is Silent", has some dope production aswell as lines.

I'd have to say Kanye West - he produces extremely well too.

My list would probably be

1. Check Your Head
2. Paul's Boutique
3. Hot Sauce Committee Part 2
4a. Ill Communication
4b. Hello Nasty

6. License to Ill

7. The Mix Up
8. To the 5 Boroughs

Check Your Head is one of their worst in my opinion.
