As said above depending on what you're looking for it doesn't have to. If something like Illmatic or Me Against the World was ghost written I would be disappointed and I think the albums would lose a bit of charm. Imagine if something like Dear Mama was ghost written .

.

It can still sound good; I enjoy both of Dre's albums, even enjoy foreign music in languages I don't understand based purely on what it sounds like, but it takes a lot away from him as a 'rapper' if he's not writing his own bars. There really is nothing special about rapping somebody else's bars. Most of us on here could do it.

It depends what you're looking for. If you're looking for just a catchy song then it won't.
If you're looking for authenticity or a relatable narrative/storytelling in your hip-hop, then it should.

If I gave you ten random songs, would you be able to tell which were written by the rapper and which werent just by listening to them? If not, then im not sure what the issue is here.

Could still enjoy them if they were good but it wouldn't make the rappers good rappers.

Yeah ok I understand what you mean i guess but even still you can be a technically good rapper without having written anything.

Yeah, you could be good at hitting all the syllables and staying on beat but anyone who listens to Hip-Hop would be able to do that surely.
And who listens to Hip-Hop to see how fast or clear people can spit? May as well listen to DnB.

I'm just saying on an individual level I don't rate 'rappers' who have everything written for them.

I dint think it's true that anyone could do it but I do believe that a rapper who raps the songs of other writers more often than their own verses can be easily replaced. I mean it shouldn't be something to boast about if you write your own ****.

it's same for all pop music. Its about evoking an image, having the proper cadence, looking marketable.

With that said not all pop artists who use ghost writers are talent less hacks. Look up the credits for your favorite-commercial or otherwise-artist. Chances are he/she/they didn't write the songs entirely on the own. It's a romanticized notion to think the music is just this pure, unfiltered personal expression.

It reminds me when all the hubbub about courtney love having her songs supposadly co written by kurt. They were married no **** he's going to help her creatively.

Look at the adverse criticism Kanye has received since he admittedly and supposedly stopped using ghost writers. He started calling black people the NEW SLAVES ffs. His production is stellar but i cannot **** with that dudes themes

Not literally everyone but most would. It's not difficult tbh.
