He is fun, but a little bit of self awareness would go a long way.
His lyrics are most of the time....awful. But yeah his songs can be catchy. It wasn't really aimed at you, I just hate when people consider others as not "real fans" just because they like an artist. Quite patronising, which is a pet peeve of mine.

I know you listen to decent stuff, but you can clearly see a correlation if you look at the other posts. It's just a bunch of random people, DJ, and Kirby. So basically what I'm trying to say is that I was coming at DJ and Kirby. You're the outlier.

I don't care how pretentious it makes me (I've been doing my best to make that my e-legacy) Childish Gambino is crap. It's eddie murphy "my girl wants to party all the time" crap, it's nick cannon crap. It's the ripple effects of lil wayne's punchline rap becoming the mainstream, and it hurts, it hurts bad.

The songs by themselves sound good. They're designed to. Imagine if professor utonium wasn't trying to make powerpuff girls, he was trying to make commercial rap, he substitutes "sugar" for puns, "spice" with superficial individualism (oh my ****ing god a black guy who doesn't rap about chains?!?1?1!?) and "Everything nice" with broad marketability( hey this guy already has a teenage fanbase!)

Seriously, this dude is an android, his humor is equally generic and self-entitling.

Lol, right.

I only listen to mainstream bull**** because I listen Childish Gambino? That couldn't be farther from the truth.

I listen to just about everything under the sun. Mainstream/Radio, Underground, etc. And I still like Childish Gambino. Not everything needs to be serious or scene changing. Dude has nice lines, and I enjoy the sound and humor in his music.

If that means you think I have bad taste in music, so be it.

Summer camp is a place where you find yourself, where you're kinda self obsessed, and you're extremely insecure. At least he gave us what he marketed, instead of this jive ass love for average ass A$AP and Drake or even Dark Fantasy.

Childish Gambino is a great artist in my eyes and Camp is essentially a product of the times in rap music.

His attempt to be super honest about his life I guess. I'm no fan of the production really, most of it being sub par. Every song is loaded with one-liners tho and he has alot of interesting view points.

How the world views him as a black talent, in terms of writing and acting. His genre of backpacker or Nerd rap. His feeble attempts to escape that box on the album are interesting as well.

Sad thing being I'm a massive Community fan so I pretty much see it as Troy making rap songs.

I personally like Childish Gambino a lot. I didn't really like his earliest works I AM JUST A RAPPER (1 and 2)/Poindexter, but then again, most people didn't. I don't listen to too much rap, so for someone like me, he's good to listen to because he says a lot of stuff that I can relate to (movies/tv). I'm seeing him live for the second time in a few months, the first time was awesome because it was the I Am Donald tour which was half Donald Glover standup (which is awesome) and half Childish Gambino rapping. I've listened to his EP dozens of times and I like his newest album a lot too, with the exception of a few songs. He just takes some getting used to I guess.

My favorite songs are Not Going Back, Bonfire, Sunrise, and All The Shine from his newest stuff.

I like him as a MC, thought it was unusual when he rapped over songs with the lyrics still in them, but I love the lyrics he uses in his raps now.
