Big Boi
Always kinda been in the shadow of Andre 3000, the other half of Outkast, but now he has finally released his first solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and apparently it's pretty good.
I've only gotten to listen to a couple tracks, but i like what I've head. His delivery is crisp, and the production is ecletic and not stuck in trying to milk more of the ATL sound that Outkast helped create. Anybody get it yet? |
I've got it and I've been listening to it a whole lot. Great stuff on it. So many catchy songs on it.

this has to be rap album of the year so far...

Shutterbugg=great video, great lyrics, great beat... A modern classic.
|
actually, i got a chance to see big boi thursday, he played a free show on my campus courtesy of our CAB. indoors, so hot, nobody cared.
|
i think it did pretty well. It debuted #3 on billboard.

good album.

He definitely stepped his game up on this one, think he has earned the right to step out of 3000's shadow now.

Wasn't blown away by his album but I was never the biggest Outkast fan so maybe it'll grow on me.

Big Boi
There might already be a thread on him, but I couldn't find one on google search and within the first 4 pages of the rap forum so I figured I'd just make it.
The album's greatest strength for me is also kind of my bigger issue. It's all over the place, which makes it refreshing to hear but sometimes the lack of direction and all the different production can be a bit masturbatory and distraction. Big Boi's rapping is excellent though, as is his lyrics, the album definitely hits a low spot on Tangerine through Fo Yo Sorrows. What did everyone else think of it? Also I posted this in the Black Keys thread but I think I got totally ignored: Free Black Keys / Big Boi Remix Album « the needle drop |
