I'm not looking for Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Remy Ma, Nicki Minaj type stuff.

Male rappers are fine too as long as they have the sort of lyrics these people have, thoughtful conscious lyrics about different issues, less about bragging/violence. I love the sensitivity of Digable Planets. Thanks in advance.
You should definitely check out Dessa from the Doomtree collective out in Minneapolis. She put out her debut LP earlier this year called A Badly Broken Code and it is absolutely fantastic. Great lyrics, great vocals, and great delivery.
