Blu released his first album in 2007.

Thanks for sharing the Blu. It's not really my thing though, too R&B-ish for my tastes. What else you got? :)

Sorry, I'm pretty disappointed with the class of new school emcees. I can name plenty for you, but I wouldn't recommend many of them. By the way, Edan put out his first album in like, 2002. (He had some unreleased thing before that, I think.) So he's still newish, I guess.

I think Jay Electronica might work for you. His style is really... old school.

One Be Lo put out his first solo record in 2005, but he put out an album in a duo called Binary Star in 2000. He's actually in my top 5 rappers. Intelligent wordplay, skillful rhyme schemes (he usually rhymes 3-4 syllables for multiple bars or a whole verse), and insightful lyrics. Pay a lot of attention to his lyricism in these two tracks; he's got a lot of replay value.

"Hard work, sweat and bloodstains
did it for chump change, didn't really complain
'cause it was a love thang."

Both of these verses blow my mind, especially the second.

Wale is a good newcomer, too. Like Jay Electronica, he's got a slow flow, so he might seem boring at first, but he's interesting.

Wiz Khalifa showed up in like 2005. A lot of his stuff I've come across has been pretty stale and generic, but the mixtape he just dropped in April is really good. However, it's pretty much about weed and pretty girls and partying in hotel rooms, topped with a little bit of braggadocio rap. The topics aren't new, but he has so much charisma and style (he's just cool as fuck), and his choice of beats is excellent. If you're not for this content, then don't bother. If so, you'll love it.

"soon as I enter the room, it's red carpets and bitches with pretty smellin' perfume"

Uh, this isn't off that mixtape, but it's cool, I guess. He raps over Pharcyde's Runnin' (a J Dilla beat)

And just check this out, I guess. I love it.

Thanks Jester! I've heard that Chiddy Bang song before but everything else is unfamiliar to me. After listening to all of them I think Wiz Khalifa was the one who probably jumped out at me the most, though I'll have to give these all a couple of listens to have a better idea.

Good call on this one, Engine! I got it the other and am really digging it so far. Way better than The No Music.

Hello, im looking for rap groups that are similiar to Panacea in that they have that cool "soundscape" thing going on. Example to show what I'm talking about

Thanks in advance!

For non bragging hip hop, I think ya got to go back to the old school 80's and early 90's.

A Tribe Called Quest

Fu Shcnickens

EPMD

DAS EFX

Gangstarr

and of course, RUN DMC and Public Enemy!
