As far as falling for Freestyle Fellowship, excellent. Make sure you got their 2011 album the Promise, and then backtrack and pick up any and all of the individual members' albums. Myka 9 is my favorite in the group. He used to release albums under Mikah 9 so check wikipedia or somewhere to see which albums are under which name. But Timetable is amazing. 1969 is very fun. Mykology is very good (that came out 2011 also). And there are a good few I can't find online, but youtube y'know.

Then Aceyalone has great albums as well. All Balls Don't Bounce, A Book of Human Language, Accepted Eclectic, Magnificent City ** (f. RJD2), Grand Imperial.

Then you need to get Haiku D'Etat, with Myka 9, Acey, and friend Abstract Rude. Just get those albums and you are set for a nice long while with some really solid albums.

Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely be checking all of those out asap.

Also check out Slave Riot by Young Jazz Rebels. Very cool left-field Hip Hop that's jazzy.

And if you already haven't, listen to Aesop Rock's Labour Days and Madvillainy by Madvillain (or any MF DOOM related project).

Not really much into rap but there's a few I'm partial on:

Beastie Boys
Public Enemy
Cypress Hill
The Roots

De La Soul and Fugees are ok too.

@Frownland, I forgot to mention with the Dose One stuff ... his project 13 & God is pretty dang good. Their latest album came out in 2011. I like the old and new alike, so whatevers clever.

Thanks Mrdood, I'll definitely check that out along with the rest of his stuff that I can find. And Goofle, I checked out that Aesop Rock album at work yesterday and really dug it, thanks for the rec.

Labor Days is my #1 pick for Aesop also. It's in my top 3 albums of all time.

geesh louis bro top 3?

it's a nice concept album but i don't even regard it as his best work, not by a lot.

For me it goes
Float
Bazooka Tooth
none shall pass
labor days

Come off it Sparky bro... My favourite Hip Hop album, closely followed by "Liquid Swords".

Glad you liked it Frown, real grower as well considering how complex his lyrics are.

this is my number 1 i don't care how obvious it is

Seriously? Float is your top album from him? I've always regarded that as one of those quintessential "before he found his voice" kinds of albums.
