John Wilkes Booth 01-16-2015 02:25 AM

love that freddie foxxx joint. what is it off of? i need album/mixtape names to download tbh.

DwnWthVwls 01-16-2015 05:06 AM

Honestly have no idea what album that's from if any. That guy got shit going back to his debut in '89 with Eric B. You can just rip it from youtube with YouTube Downloader though if you like it that much.

Mykill and TKash gonna be harder to find I only know them from browsing their various songs on YouTube. Don't own an album from either.

Some old crews including Freddie.

John Wilkes Booth 01-16-2015 07:51 PM

i'll see if i can find the mykill album though when i get some time off. i found a torrent on demonoid but its not downloading. if worse comes to worse if the songs are on youtube i can rip it from there

Not sure if you remember but I was thinking about this the other day... Moodie Black are actually members of this forum.

I remember the dude sending me a copy of their track with dalek, and their EP (still under GAHEDiNDIE at the time I think). Pretty neat.

Love the oldschool posse cuts, it's always dope to hear so many of the best emcee's of their time rip together. It's too bad the West-Coast didn't do this more, only cuts I can think of off the top of my head would be "Were All In The Same Gang" and the "Get The Fist Movement" track. Can't forget KRS's Stop The Violence Movement either but that was East-Coast.

Sparky 01-22-2015 03:55 PM

does anyone know if there exists a studio version of this?

bulbasaur 01-24-2015 01:10 PM

aha i love the paranoia track. i don't think there's a studio version of the earl song; upcoming album seems cool though

DwnWthVwls 01-31-2015 09:13 AM

The Upstarts - Time's Right

FrigginParadox 02-10-2015 09:46 PM

That earl song was fire, holy...

DwnWthVwls 02-10-2015 10:59 PM

That's sarcasm right?

Braedencheese 02-13-2015 01:30 PM

I recently downloaded A Tribe Called Quest's anthology and really enjoyed it. They generally have a really laid back style and they use samples in cool ways.
I really enjoy songs like Can I kick it, Oh my God, we got the jazz, Scenario, electric relaxation, buggin out, check the rhime and Keep it moving.

If anyone has any suggestions in terms of different albums by A Tribe Called Quest or other groups of the similar style I would be very happy. Thanks

Hello! I made a similar request in the Soul recommendations section (with more song names) but I think this fits into Rap and Hiphop more than Soul anyways. So I'll try and keep it short:

I'd like to request something similar to Diggy-Mo'! He has alot of great music, most of it is an upbeat Jazzy Pop/ Hiphop style mixed with Hiphop vocals or Rap; the most notable at the moment is: Heartache Jive, Voodoo Kindgom, Bakusou Yume Uta (easier to find as Soul Eater Ending #3), Juves, Unchained and Challenger. The Roots are also worth mentioning, since Diggy-Mo' takes inspiration from them! The most important thing is that this is upbeat Hiphop, with tempo or rhythm changes, without the type of beats that I find boring.

An artist with a similar style are The Gorillaz, and their lead MC Deltron from 3030 and other sources. Their album The Singles Collection 2001 - 2011 on Youtube fits what I like about them. Tomorrow Comes Today, Clint Eastwood, and 19/2000 are all amazing! I don't like their slow atmospheric stuff as much.

I would post links but I need another two posts to do so. Most of this is findable on Youtube, and I can upload anything that isn't for the most part! I really want anything similar to these guys, because I have looked everywhere for a few years and I've gotten nothing!

The lead MC from Deltron 3030 and Gorilla'z "Clint Eastwood" track is Del Tha Funky Homosapien, not sure if he fits your category but he is a legend in his own right. If you wanna check out some of his solo stuff I'd Reccomend.

- If You Must
- Dr. Bombay
- Catch A Bad One
- Mistadobalina
- Pissin' On Your Steps
- Ahonetwo, Ahonetwo

salute.

DwnWthVwls 02-18-2015 04:00 PM

I love Del.. Good recs.

FRED HALE SR. 02-19-2015 08:06 AM

Saw Pharcyde last night. Lots of opening acts but I really enjoyed Stephen The Martyr. Intelligent lyrics and great samples. I think he will end up blowing up. Check out his Soundcloud dude can bring it.

Yeah I love Del, but I was already aware that he had multiple aliases. Maybe my "Deltron from 3030 and others" was a vague way of saying that. Thanks for the suggestions but do you know of anyone else that raps like Del or Diggy-Mo'? I usually don't like Rap, but I really love these two, and haven't ever heard of anyone else that sounds like they do. Although The Roots are pretty close.

Both guys did amazing things after their one hit cuts in the 90s people really underlook their discography, especially Chubbs.

That D & D Project cut is such a gem for such a random and obscure album it came out on, I have both versions because both the Premier remix and original are too dope.

Show and Prove is a crazy track too, love how Kane brings out with homeboys scoob and scrap and let's them rock the mic, if I'm not mistaken I think this was Jay-Z'z first recording appearance too. The entire track is just completely wild, unique flow is off the charts in it.

i think krs's bit on the d&d all stars is probably the best verse i've ever heard from him tbh

I think the best I've heard from him always seemingly comes from his freestyles, dude is an absolute legend, the epitome of education and knowledge within' Hip-Hop culture.

John Wilkes Booth 03-12-2015 12:12 AM

i just love his energy on that track

the radar part always gets me

DwnWthVwls 03-12-2015 05:00 AM

Who's your favorite Crooklyn trio?

John Wilkes Booth 03-12-2015 08:56 AM

the original one... i'm partial to buckshot

Micco 03-12-2015 11:22 PM

I think the second trio is better IMO, especially production wise. I think flow wise the second time around everybody was much more unique and brought something to the table.

John Wilkes Booth 03-12-2015 11:39 PM

i like the beat better on the second track as well

but i like the rapping beter on the original

bulbasaur 03-18-2015 10:48 PM
