I heard about this guy today

King Fantastic.

What do you guys think? I was too wrapped up in the beat to pay attention to his lyrics so i'm not sure how good those are.

well, and that's about it. If someone could recommend me just a couple of their absolute favorite hip hop albums, loosely based on the three I've already listed, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Maybe you'd like Das Racist? Found them recently.

I haven't found something new (to me) that has stuck. Tried Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa- opinion hasn't changed there. Was recommended Macklemore because I like Seattle hip-hop- nothing. Tried some stuff that MBers were all over, like Das Racist and OFWGKTA- nope. Went back through some Blu material- uninspired.

I feel sort of like I've passed the apex of my listening... in that I opened myself up to so much music, listened to it and weeded out the bad, and now I've refined my taste to the point of closing myself off and thinking pretty much everything else is shiat.

Change my mind with some random recommendations?

I mean, I'm with ya dude... and I'm generally a pretty patient guy, but it's been too long since my last great discovery or solid release. Basically have hit a boiling point. Some solid albums expected, from some of my favorite acts... guess I just gotta grind through this down time for now.

I know he's not all random and new but have you listened to Gutter Rainbow at all? I had that album on repeat when I first heard it. It's Talib Kweli's latest material

i second this. Excellent production almost saves kweli's straight out-of-a-textbook delivery.

Yeah I never gave that Kweli a proper listen as I had heard mostly negative comments about it. Worth checking into, and thanks for the recommendation.

Also, Kirby- to quote Bart Scott: "CAN'T WAIT!" I just checked Rhymesayers and saw two pieces of information that caught my attention... 1) Every pre-ordered album will come autographed by Slug and Ant, and 2) There is a single out already "Just For Show", which I will now be looking into!

Lasers in a week. I have faith.
