I liked that. I don't think he's flow is too bad but I heard a song off of Labor Days awhile back and I just hated his flow. Maybe I might be ready to give the whole album a listen.

oh wtf!? he's white? NEVERMIND

I don't listen to white rappers.

geez, that comment was way less punctual then i hoped.
No, none of Aesop Rock's albums will have the right... like, cohesiveness to be considered a classic. That's because Aesop Rock isn't just making works of art, he's just continually creating a world. His work itself is masterful; he doesn't really produce a magnum opus because basically everything he does is the culmination of his creativity. It's perpetual.

If you don't know Aceyalone, then you suck. Dude's beyond a legend, and Innercity Griots, All Balls Don't Bounce, and A Book of Human Language are all classics, on par with Illmatic.

That's a little much. I'd say he's great at creating imagery, and when he feels like it, telling traditional stories and religious commentary, especially catholicism. But I've never got the impressing he was creating a world, in any sense.

I imagine it's full of tugboats

guess ill have to check aceyalone then, do i pronounce it ace-y-alone, or ace-yalone?

*WAS. He's dead now (R.I.P. Mikey). Eyedea was an amazing freestyler. His written studio albums were awesome in my opinion, but didn't receive much acclaim.

Aesop Rock has good lyrics, but he has NO flow. It's like he's just talking at you.

Goddamn it, I just wrote you a great long response but then I accidentally closed the tab, somehow.

My point is: Aesop Rock's albums aren't masterpieces because his work is mastery in itself, really; I don't think people really know how much craftsmanship Aesop Rock puts into the construction of his music, which is a shame. I don't know how people don't see it, really. If people weren't so fucking lazy, they would put more effort into analyzing art and take a lot more away from it, rather than shrugging Aesop Rock off as someone who can't flow or someone whose lyrics are just "random." They're not. Aesop Rock knows what he's doing, even if you (not specifically you, matious--just anyone reading this who disagrees with me!) don't.

Ay-see-uh-lone like acey-alone.

And yes, you really should. Dude is mad creative.

Freestyle Fellowship:

^ Nice promo video of each member spitting an acapella. It's from '92! Myka 9 and Aceyalone destroy it (Myka's the second guy, Acey's the third guy [after PEACE spits his second verse]).

Freestyle battle / Freestyle Fellowship vs Wu-Tang (more like Project Blowed vs Wu-Tang Affiliates, though). Acey kills that **** at 5 mins.
