Question Sad Rap Songs

What are some sad rap songs?I think an artists true talent comes when he or she writes a sad rap song because im sick of songs about dancing and retarded lyric songs such as soulja boy and that new boyz BS. Songs such as FlipSyde-Happy Birthday, Game- Start From Scratch, Tupac-too many good ones to name, rhymfest-bullet, etc.

You know there's more to rap than "sad songs" and "party songs". Anyway, I wouldn't class rhymefests bullet as a sad song you seem to be talking about songs with meaning rather than the usual pop rap nonsense.

I'd suggest these (from the top of my head);

Cuban Link - letter to pun (a tribute to big pun, whom cuban link was good friends with)
Fort Minor - the hard way
Masta Ace - dear diary
Non Phixion - say goodbye to yesterday
Jedi Mind Tricks - black winter day
Bliss n Eso - bullet and a target
Hilltop Hoods - fifty in five (a recap of the last fifty years in five minutes).
Lowkey - rise and fall
Pez - heavenly (not so much a sad song, just a beautiful track dedicated to his parents).
Ludacris - runaway love
Rhyme Asylum - lost
Zion I & The Grouch - make u fly
Proof - kurt kobain
Respek BA - hope
Tech N9ne - the rain
Royce 5'9 - life
Xdash - Foolish Games (I actually know the guy who produced this. well not in real life but through forums from a long time ago lol).

One of my favorite more mellow, sad rap songs is Arrested Development's "Washed Away"

Well there's that Jay-Z track "Song Cry" which is a retarded attempt at a sad song. That kind of covers both bases.

Hi there,

When I read the title of this thread I was thinking it was more of a statement. I was about to agree with it until I saw that you were asking for examples....

Whoops.... Have a great weekend.

The saddest rap song I know is What's Up Fatlip? by Fatlip.

It's on his album, The Lonliest Punk, and it's about how he feels like a failure in life as an aging rapper who is not very successful or even good at his craft. He goes on to talk about how he's always been a loser.

Best rhymes:
Quote:
When you winnin' they grinnin'
All up in your face like they was with you from the beginning
But on the flipside, when you washed up like a riptide
Fools clown 'bout how you slipped and let shit slide
Besides the fact my voice is whack
Clowns is runnin' around talkin' 'bout I smoke crack
Ain't got no homies that got my back
Yeah I'm a brother, but sometimes I don't feel black
My girl is white, my game ain't tight
Niggaz who ain't seen me in a while be like, "Dude, you aight?"
It's actually one of my favorite hip-hop songs and it's about true sadness, not grief over love or the crack game. I think the video was made by Spike Jonze..

Yep, the video is by Spike Jonze. I love that song. I don't really perceive it as sad though, more just humorously self-deprecating.
