Hmm let's see...
Top 5 Albums Random - Mega Ran 9 Gift of Gab - Escape 2 Mars Sol.illaquists of Sound - No More Heroes DOOM - Born Like This K'Naan - Troubadour Top 5 Tracks "Splash Woman" - Random "Don't Leave (When Winter Comes)" - CunninLynguists "Light Years" - Gift of Gab "15 Minutes Away" - K'Naan "Me-Time (With the Pulmonary Palmpsest)" - Busdriver Favorite EMCEE (Based on 2009 Work) Gift of Gab His work just continues to get better and better, Escape 2 Mars is certainly a top contender for best hip hop album of the year and just goes to show his ascension into legendary status as a wordsmith. Favorite Producer (Based On 2009 Work) KNO from CunninLynguists. While I'm saddened by his departure from EMCEEING, his beats are just as smooth and funky as ever before. It would be nice for him to get behind the mic again though. Biggest Letdown I'm going to cheat and say it's a tie between Relapse by Eminem and The Ecstatic by Mos Def. Relapse certainly did live up to it's name though, however it's Em relapsing into bad habits and stupid shock lyrics. I liked him so much more when he channeled his frustration and anger into more heartfelt lyrics present on The Eminem Show but it seems he's been drifting away from that in recent years. The Ecstatic was certainly not a bad album by any stretch of the imagination, but it was not what I was expecting from the man who released Black On Both Sides. Best Debut I really don't know much of anything new that came out this year except for Blackrok's debut album, however that's more of a collaboration so I'm not sure if that counts. I suppose Asher Roth's debut album Asleep In the Bread Isle was alright, but I don't listen to it on a regular basis. Favorite Line Or Verse "As I pass mars, mass stars, planets all ajar in the solar system. See me float farther out of the galaxy. I realize there are more. How far does it go. I wonder if there are no endings, beginnings. Yesterday is just tomorrow. Seen another sun, another earth, another mars. So far into space, wonder will I see the father, Learn the mysteries that were written by the author. If it doesn't end, where's it from, where'd it start though. Does it have direction or is all of this is all for nothing just a bunch of molecules who have lost our way. To my left thought I saw a flying saucer." - Gift of Gab - "Light Years" |

1. Top 5 Albums
In no particular order; Hilltop Hoods - state of the art Lowkey - Dear Listener Pez - A Mind of My Own (special edition) Chali 2na - Fish Outta Water Bliss n Eso - Flying colours (live edition) 2. Top 5 Tracks In no particular order; Hilltop hoods - Chase That Feeling Lowkey feat Logic - Relatives Lowkey - Long Live Palestine Stig ft RA rugged man - Braindead Chali 2na ft kanetic source - Controlled Coincedence 3. Favorite Emcee (based on 2009 work only) Pressure, Lowkey or Chali 2na (was going to mention bliss n eso but all their stuff was re-released from 2008) 4. Favorite Producer (based on 2009 work only) MC Bliss (Jonathan Notley) or Suffa, people have been angry becayse suffa seems to be making his beats more commercial sounding lately but for me it's a welcome change. I think he's just growing as a producer. As for Bliss, the guys just a genius. 5. Biggest Let Down (whack album, bad concert, postponements, etc) Relapse - as expected. 6. Best Debut Honestly can't think of anyone. I guess technically this year was Chali 2nas solo debut aside from his mixtapes. 7. Favorite Line or Verse Far to many to list.

lol i knew someone would pick up on that. I guess since i generally know what to expect i've not been let down by any artist. The artists i think are good aren't just good they're phenomenal and everyone else i expect to flop. So i'm rarely dissapointed.
In all honesty the last time i remember being truely dissapointed by an album was encore and perhaps Sways second album, he seemed to have a bit of potential in his first but his 2nd release was just boring. Also i was relatively dissapointed by the new Royce stuff, i prefer his stuff from death is certain, it's a little darker and less club/commercial. Still lyrically on point, let down more from the production side i.m.o but then again that's only because it's the kind of beats i don't really enjoy listening to.

Top 5 Albums
P.O.S. - Never Better Tech N9ne - K.O.D. KiD CuDi - Man On The Moon: End of Day Felt (Slug & Murs) - Felt 3: A Tribute To Rosie Perez Method Man & Redman - Blackout! 2 Top 5 Tracks P.O.S. - Let It Rattle Tech N9ne - The Martini KiD CuDi - Soundtrack 2 My Life KRS-One & Buckshot - Robot XV - Mirror's Edge Favorite EMCEE (Based on 2009 Work) P.O.S. P.O.S. released my favorite album of the year. Mixing genres and having a flawless flow on Never Better definitely influenced this decision. Favorite Producer (Based On 2009 Work) I would have to say Matic Lee. He produced some of my favorite songs on Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko's '09 releases, including pretty much all of the better songs on Sickology (which was a pretty lackluster performance, in my opinion). Songs he produced for Tech N9ne in 2009 included: Far Away, Dysfunctional, Areola, Sorry N ****, Red Nose, Nothin', Demons, Pinnochiho, Killing You Songs he produced for Krizz Kaliko in 2009 included: Genius, Doe Doe, Get Off, Love You 2 Death, Dead Wrong, So High, Choir Boy Biggest Letdown Cage - Depart From Me I remember listening to this album, hoping for another Hell's Winter or Movies For The Blind. The whole time I was just shaking my head because of how bad the album is. There's nothing else you can say about it. It's just a big disappointment. Best Debut Tie: KiD CuDi's Man On The Moon & Fashawn's Boy Meets World Both are terrific albums in their own right. Completely different styles, too. I'd have to say KiD CuDi's inches out Fashawn's album, but that's only because I've listened to it more. Favorite Line Or Verse Quote:
