He's the 'real deal' in that he was probably legitimately insane.
Those Wu classics just wouldn't be the same without his off-kilter lunacy, but on his own, it's a little much for me. I think his style works far better within a framework of 'normalcy' so to speak.

Its neck and neck between ODB and GZA for which one of the Wu Tang members is my favorite. Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return to 36 Chambers was one heckuva album. I think its fairly overlooked by fans (of Wu's solo albums.) because of Liquid Swords and Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... however I think Return to 36 Chambers is right there with those two albums and deserves more credit. I might be off about the fact the album and artist are underrated but that's just from personal experience.
