Default new MC on the scene

Hey,

I’m a new M.C who has been writing music for some time and want to start producing it. Is there anyway I can do this at home without going to studio? I write my own lyrics and sing them myself. Can I get home recording gear and music editing/production software and if so what will I need?

Also I need backing tracks and samples to sing over the top off. How can I make these and can I buy the backing tracks to sing over the top of?

Any info help to get me started would be most appreciated.

guitar center. gear.

google. Fruity Loops.

:P thats a start.

what I would do is call local recording company's and ask what their using, set up an appointment and then just nose around when you're there. unless they'll tell ya over the phone.

Fruity Loops is one of the biggest software editors/ music sequencers for hip-hop music around. It will certainly give you most if not all of the software you need. Problem is its not so easy to get. Do you have any friends who are into torrenting?

For recording yourself, you have two options if you don't want to spend a lot of money...

USB Mics cost about 10 bucks a pop, but often they don't pick up bass well and your voice will have to be tinkered with a bit in the mixing process.

Regular mic plus amp plus Quarter" Jack to Mic Jack converter will cost you 150 USD+.

yeah certain programs are used by cats in certain genres. FL is definitely seen as a "hip-hop" program even though cats in dubstep and **** use it as well.

ACID is also good because it's centred around buildings loops.

if you need a mic, go find a friend who plays the Rockstar game and snatch the mic from that....if you're broke.

honestly though, FL is one of the most widely cracked DAWs...it's not hard to find....(I'm not saying another word lol)
