Default Still hoping for Beat Konducta Vol. 7-8

I guess he always has the beats for any release at any given time...but hopefully this drops by the end of the year. I'm fiending.

What are your favourites...a bit harder to order them, but for me:

Vol. 1
Vol. 2
Vol. 4
Vol. 6
Vol. 5
Vol. 3

I'm not sure on ordering them as I have them coupled together in pairs, but they're a great series. Often too short if you really love a beat, but I guess that's the plus point as well in that he demonstrates his vast collection of beats and the variety of influences and sounds which he's creating. Madlib has so many alter-egos and aliases it's almost a daunting task to start on his discography.

Didn't Volume 5/6 only drop this year, thought next year might be more realistic?

My favourite of his work is definitely his Shades of Blue album and his albums under the name of Yesterday's New Quintet. Mainly for the jazzy beats and sampling of classic blue note sounds.

Vol. 5-6 dropped last year around this time...like either before september or right in september. He's had two Vols every year since '06 so I figured there would at least be news about it by now. Thing is if the man makes an album a day, he pretty much just needs to put select which beats.

YNQ is sick too. I personally like the Sound Directions stuff the most...working with a complete band and all.

Jackson Conti was really really good as well, released earlier last year.

I guess I love everything he's done. Listening to the Lootpack stuff is a trip....he was sort of on a different tip then.

There's only two releases I haven't heard from him: DJ Rels - Theme For a Broken Soul and Beat Konducta Vol. 0 (I really wanna hear this)...it was made way before the other beat konductas...like 5 years maybe

In India is dope. Don't remember the titles- but 2, 3, 8, 11, 18 all stand out. I never heard Vol. 5/6.

wow give the man a break -- Vol. 5-6 arent even a year old yet!

Vol. 5 vinyl came out around Sept 08, and Vol. 6 vinyl came out about Dec 08 (and the CD version of the two this year)

There's a cool article about the album art for the whole series here. All of Madlib's album art is done by Jeff Jank. Apparently I can't post a link yet cuz i'm a new guy, but google: "Beat Konducta: Dirty Beats & Dirty Covers"

Beat Konducta albums are all good! best to least-best:

1 - Vol. 1&2
2 - Vol. 5&6
3 - Vol. 0 ("Earth Sounds" the double 7-inch)
4 - Vol. 3&4

What's the story with these releases? Do they basically sound like the stuff on Jukebox 45s?

then if Vol. 5 is a year old...he should release a new one!

nah, I suppose when they come out they come out.

"this record cover was thrown onto a back porch where it sat for at least a year"....damn!

I'm also hoping for a new Quas album sometime.

@Janszoon
These are basically just wild beats that he made
The idea behind Vol. 1-2 was that he was gonna make a soundtrack for a non-existent movie.

Vol. 3-4 he sampled Bollywood films, and turned them into some damn good hip-hop. It took me some time to warm up to them...but Vol. 4 is really sick.

Vol 5-6 were tribute albums to Dilla.
