His album, Man On The Moon: The End Of Day, dropped today. I'm giving it a listen with an open mind- didn't get into "Day 'N' Nite" when it came out, so I have some catching up to do...

Common-- the next Morgan Freeman in the voiceover business.
EDIT: And I'm not saying that because he's black. EDIT^2: Got through a full spin, and I really like it. Damn, how lonely can one guy be? Reminds me of Lupe's mainstream debut- some catchy singles, solid front-to-back, repeat listening value.

I listened to it, then read a review that the New York Times did. They were really spot on.
Check out the review here One part I thought was particularly accurate: Quote:

I'm excited for the Wale, and I plan on checking out the Dizzee Rascal album. his last one was pretty good. Wale got pushed back to weeks, so it comes out the week after Tech N9ne's new release.

Wow, after one listen I'm speechless. Breath of fresh air. Much needed.
A whiff of 808's, which is great with me (I liked it) and lots of great spacey beats and layed back rhymes. Great sound overall in my opinion, I even really like the Poker Face sample produced by Kanye. I'll give it another listen later. Definitely up there with the best hip hop releases this year, although I may be a little biased after only listening once. I'm just listening to Q-Tip's long-delayed Kamaal The Abstract album now, and it's also amazing! Just after starting to lose faith with hip hop recently, along come these two great new albums in the same day. |

I like the idea of Kid Cudi's album being great and will have to have another listen. It was not bad and much better than Jay-Z's BP3 but didn't really get into any of it. I think he'll have better down the road.
