I don't know what an Emcee is... but I know that Eminem does it for me lyrics wise. Maybe I'm just ignorant, idk.

Miltamec Soundsquinaez 07-15-2009 12:58 PM

I could wax philosophical on what exactly "lyrical" means as it pertains to hip-hop, but I would have to say Mos-Def would be my first choice. Maybe a little clarification of the definition would be in order.

Son of JayJamJah 07-15-2009 02:00 PM

I took it to mean a combination of the lrics themselves and the manner in which they were delivered.

Surell 07-15-2009 05:59 PM

Prince Ea's lyrics are wild as hell. Out there stuff.

TROY148 07-24-2009 12:41 AM

Check out J-Live and B.E.N.E.F.I.T. both very lyrical. Rakim and MF as well both have lyrics that will make your mind spin

If you havent heard of him you should check out Son Doobie, his lyrics are sick dude, hes signed with Battle Axe records, the same recoed label as the Swollen Members, I dont mind Swollen but Son Doobie is wicked.

swordwanderer 07-28-2009 07:07 PM

Sage Francis

I'm kinda unsure what the lyrical constitutes in this thread. Is it their wordplay, or storytelling? Or just how great they can write a song, period? Because that's basically what makes any songwriter great, and would just need a best rapper thread, really.

While I do enjoy Lil Wayne, I doubt I would put him in any of the "best" or "greatest" lists. He may get an honorable mention, BUT not on the actual list.
