I think, and I've talked about this with friends before, that once a rapper gets rich and famous, they stop talking about what got them there. They talk about what they do with that money. I don't like that. I don't like "I got money in these jeans, so they fit me kind of snug." **** off man, how am I supposed to relate to that? my pants will never be snug because of how much money I have. I think that's why Pac is still so relevant today. So many of his songs were about real situations that real people go through. They were depressing, but they were real. Yeah, well I mean in his new album, he kind of does switch it up. He has the song about his mom and the song about heartbreaks. I mean not all songs about girls are bad. Just the ones where he's all like "Do it like the women from my town would." Nasty ass. |

At this point is no longer becomes "poetry of the street" and down to earth, it becomes essentially rich people telling the poor how awesome they are and it's awful. People lose interest because it's depressing. |

I will probably never understand what it's like to have an expensive ass car or all of this money. Like Nicki even does it. Talking about all the albums she made and how much better she is. I think that's a huge problem with rap, and people say it all of the time, but it hasn't really gotten better. I think to really rap is to be a poet, and to be a poet is to understand the world around you. Not just talk about yourself. |

It's really human nature when you've been successful to in some way feel complacent about it, but the really good rappers will understand that apart from them, the world is still poor and the things they take for granted most people would give an arm for. |

PREACH. Also, I didn't mean to generalize. Not all rappers today lose sight of what they started with. |
