I think the first hip hop album I ever owned was..
http://thekaoseffect.com/blog/wp-con...ggie-duets.jpg My brother gave it to me, before that I just listened whatever was on the radio. The first rap album I got and loved was either Madvillainy or The Cool, I can't remember which I got first. |

I totally would just Flip the booklet so that the album cover no longer faces the cover to prevent my parents from seeing the parental advisory sticker/logo. Got caught a few times, they made me return some CDs to the store which was pretty lame. I recently got into hip-hop. I've mostly been into punk and stoner rock pretty much for ever. The artist the really opened up this genre for me was Sage Francis about 3 years ago. One of my co-workers was playing his most recent album. I liked it so much that I obtained all the music by him that I could find. |
Will Smith's raps are nice. Kinda?
|
First rap I ever listened to was Will Smiths Big Willy Style CD back in middle school.. Then I got Willenium too.
Didn't listen to rap again til college. Sophomore year I got an apartment with this kid I met freshman year. We were chillin on our balcony smokin some herb and he put Nas's Illmatic CD on. I was blown away, I'd never heard rap like that before. So I just started jamming to a bunch of old rap music like Wu and Biggie and a ton of other non-radio MCs. |
First rapper who I listened to was 50 Cent, back when he was in the charts all the time. The first album I bought was 2pac's Loyal to the Game, on the back of the single Ghetto Gospel which I loved. That opened the doorways to loads of more artists in the world of hip-hop.

Unfornately Lil Wayne was my introduction to Hip-Hop. Soon after I floated away from mainstream and started listening to BB's, BIG, Tupac, and some underground beasts.

Blackalicious is a great intro!

by the end of the alphabet his mic was covered in spit, haha |
My first introduction to Hip-Hop was due to Eminem... Yes, it's mainstream, it was pretty cool to listen to him. After that was 50 Cent, not much better. And then I began listening to some serious artists, as 2Pac and so on
