Basically what I said. I don't know maybe he's a hardcore gaybasher on the down low but I suspect he didn't really care that much and when he got a record deal and saw the world and got rich enough to keeping seeing even more of the world I wouldn't be surprised if the provincialism that breeds homophobia and other prejudices faded away at least to an extent. Like a dog who gets socialized properly and doesn't bark at black people.

Or maybe homophobia just became such a cultural norm that people just used '***got' as a common insult to attack one's masculinity with out really ascribing to homophobic ideas.
Personally, growing up I constantly heard and used *** or ***got as an insult but never really had a problem with gay people. Didn't change until I realized what I was doing and made the decision to try not to use those words. Simply because the random gay isn't going to know me or know who I am so using these slurs may trigger a fear or a feeling of being unwelcome that they can't help. Same reason I try not to say nig nog. |
