That's true but he's like 46 even if he grew up with those views it doesn't mean he has them now.

Speaking of it being OK in Hip-Hop though you're not wrong it'd probably be easier to name rappers who HAVEN'T used this word.

Basically what I said. I don't know maybe he's a hardcore gaybasher on the down low but I suspect he didn't really care that much and when he got a record deal and saw the world and got rich enough to keeping seeing even more of the world I wouldn't be surprised if the provincialism that breeds homophobia and other prejudices faded away at least to an extent. Like a dog who gets socialized properly and doesn't bark at black people.

I thought Em started as somewhat of a shock rapper. I remember the verses about raping his mother more than I do whenever he said ***got.

He was just a guy who said funny ****. That's really his secret, he says funny ****. He's honestly the best when he's just throwing punchline after punchline just for the **** of it. That's basically his entire career anyway so when he cuts the songwriting you just get pure Em goodness.

I'm blowin' up like spontaneous human combustion
Leaving you in the aftermath of holocaust and traumas
Cross the bombers
We blowin' up your house, killing your parents
And coming back to get your foster mommas

That's true. If there's ever room for interpretation in rap lyricism, it would be with his songs.

Spoiler for IQ explosion.:
Put your hands down bitch, I ain't goin' shoot you
I'm a pull you to this bullet, and put it through you
Shut up slut, you're causin' too much chaos
Just bend over and take it like a slut, okay Ma?
"Oh, now he's raping his own mother, abusing a whore,
Snorting coke, and we gave him the Rolling Stone cover?"
You god damn right bitch, and now it's too late

Or maybe homophobia just became such a cultural norm that people just used '***got' as a common insult to attack one's masculinity with out really ascribing to homophobic ideas.

Personally, growing up I constantly heard and used *** or ***got as an insult but never really had a problem with gay people. Didn't change until I realized what I was doing and made the decision to try not to use those words. Simply because the random gay isn't going to know me or know who I am so using these slurs may trigger a fear or a feeling of being unwelcome that they can't help. Same reason I try not to say nig nog.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Art Is Dead. Buy My ****.

^same for me. I never really used *** as an insult but when i was a teenager everything i didnt like was gay and it had nothing to do with sexuality. It was synonomous with stupid or lame.
