maybe you didn't listen to Relapse but that's exactly! what he did.

I did like the Marshall Mathers LP and the Slim Shady LP, but the third album (Eminem Show, yeah?) wasnt his best. I felt from there he got progressively worse (what I'd heard of him anyway, I wasnt really liking what I did hear and had no real inclination to buy his albums).
Also, Lose Yourself is ridiculously overrated as a song in my opinion, although it might be just that it was overplayed and everyone I knew sung it and claimed that as fandom... |

- MMLP -2000- (masterpiece, hands down one of the greatest rap albums in history) - SSLP -1999- (again, masterpiece although it lacks the energy of MMLP imo) - Eminem Show -2002- (had about 5 or 6 AWESOME tracks and a bunch of average ones). - Infinite -1996- (The influence from people like AZ is easy to see on his first album but damn was this a showcase of lyrical ability, the lack of deeper concepts and his monotone delivery let it down, but lyrically it was awesome and he had some of the best punchlines I've heard on an album) - Recovery -2010- (A very average album, most tracks are average or below average but some are slightly above average. Not his best work but definitley not his worst). - Encore and Relapse, two of the worst Hip Hop albums released, period. |

The reason you think it's overrated is because it did get played out pretty quickly and radio ran it to death.

I love Eminem, he's one of the best to ever hit the mic, period.
But I just wanna say I hate the new super serious eminem. I'm not even talking about his lyrics. I think Recovery is awesome, you can't rap about killing everyone and bitching about the same people on every single album when you are like 40. Just how he is in interviews all the time, and even when accepting awards. He doesn't even smile anymore. He's so uptight with that squinted-eye, pissed off/unhappy look. |
