Kanye West May Face Jail Time

If convicted, Kanye may have to serve up to 2 years in jail for his alleged "attack" at LAX. Apparently he smashed the camera of a paparazzo... I'm sure he won't actually get jail time... most celebs find a way out...

That's retarded. I thought it was his bodyguard who smashed the camera anyway.

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-19-2009 03:47 PM

He should be facing jail time for what he did to that Curtis Mayfield song

right-track 03-19-2009 03:48 PM

Amen to that!

Feign 03-19-2009 04:36 PM

That'd be such a shame, he's an idiot, but that's what makes him so damn entertaining. My parents were watching AI, and I saw his performance. . . That was amazingly bad.

PinkCigarette 03-19-2009 04:38 PM

If he goes to jail, will he stop making music?

*crosses fingers*

someonecompletelyrandom 03-19-2009 04:45 PM

Hey now, don't diss the voice of this generation!

Kayne told me to say that.

Feign 03-21-2009 11:54 PM

I think you mean: Don't diss that (Autotone) voice of this generation....though I guess putting this generation at the end implies auto tone...oh well

Molecules 03-22-2009 04:01 AM

Dear God, we don't talk often, and I may not believe in you, but if I only pray once in my life let it be now...

Amen.

Kirby 03-22-2009 06:29 AM

I dont think he should have to go to jail.
Just buy the dude a new camera.
The end.

Marlo 03-22-2009 07:54 PM

i think you just have to let his new music sorta grow on you. it did for me, and i enjoy 808 and heartbreak.

Not true. That music is ****ing terrible. It is fact that he is the epidemy of selling out. Not to mention a huge piece of **** as a person. All this "jail" will do is boost his ego to an already overinflated level.

I tried spelling it 4 times and couldnt decide. Spellcheck wouldn't help me either :)

Marlo 03-23-2009 03:26 PM

hmm .. thats too bad.
i don't think his album is that bad actually. assuming that most of the songs on his album is about being stuck in 1 form of music, which is hip hop.

I highly doubt jail of all places would boost someone like Kanye's ego. Kanye's not like your drug dealing thug, hes like the fashion centric store clerk who screams at the sight of blood. I mean come on, he was even brought up in the suburbs.

Clay, I know you like Kanye but come on now. He actually has the biggest ego in the entire word. Putting on a dress would give that man a boost in self confidence.

dhayespw 03-23-2009 04:23 PM

I came up with string of words to describe Mr. West. I couldn't figure out a way to put them all together and make a thought that makes sense. So......

He's a pompous a$$

I thought it was pronounced ep-i-tome when I first saw it. Not now, but awhile back.

I like his music, I dont particularly like him. But to be honest I dont really care, the guy can be an ego-centric if he pleases, it doesn't impact me in any way. Outside of 808s hes kept the good music coming. Just to dissect your original statement, I dont understand how you can call someone who's always had extremely high commercial aspirations a sell-out. Hell, if anything, 808s was a way for him to get out his intense emotions in the wake of his mother dying and his engagement being broken rather than a stab at making money. The dude was already on the top of the world. He was on top of the world before he even started rapping, being a rocafella in house producer behind a highly lauded rap classic (the blueprint) among other hits. Furthermore, being an egocentric does not make one a bad person, you know how I feel about people who are extremely full of themselves jake, I dont like them, but in no way are they bad people because of that. Kanye may be a baby, and say ridiculous things. But to say the man doesnt care is blasphemy. He was in pieces at bonaroo when he got pushed to a 4 am start because daylight was beginning, and the crowd wouldnt be able to get the full glow in the dark tour experience. Kanye is a performer through and through, one who holds himself to insanely vigorous standards and feels that in reaching them, he excels. Now I completely understand not liking the man (I dont really), and calling him an egocentric (he most definitely is), but to call him a bad person, and to say that doing anything to this guy would fellate his ego ( i mean come on jake, you know egocentrics of his level, and sending them to jail or putting a dress on them would do nothing to further their entitlement) is a blanket statement from someone trying to rally against the common enemy of the mainstream.

the guy crashes his car and makes his first cd with his mouth wired shut, publicity that helped get him signed....

my question is, did he ever get the wires off his jaw? Most of his lyrics sound like he is still in speech therapy.

College Dropout and proud of it

If TI got 1 year for buying illegal guns, how the hell is Kanye gonna get 2 for breaking a camera? He can pay for that shit, this is stupid.

NOW THAT PEOPLE DO BELIEVE AND SUPPORT MY MUSIC AND PRODUCTS THE BEST RESPONSE IS THANK YOU INSTEAD OF "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" IT'S COOL TO TALK **** WHEN YOU'RE RAPPING BUT NOT IN REAL LIFE. WHEN YOU MEET LITTLE WAYNE IN PERSON HE'S THE NICEST GUY FOR EXAMPLE. I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM. I NEED TO JUST GET PAST MYSELF. DROP THE BRAVADO AND JUST MAKE DOPE PRODUCT. EVERYTHING IS NOT THAT SERIOUS. AS LONG AS PEOPLE THINK I ACT LIKE A BITCH THIS TYPE OF **** WILL HAPPEN TO ME. I GOT A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF ME TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE I'M NOT ACTUALLY A HUGE DOUCHE BUT I'M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. I'M SURE THE WRITERS AT SOUTH PARK ARE REALLY NICE PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE. I really don't mind Kanye that much, he's a douche some of the time or whatever but damned if I care. I like his beats, his rhymes aren't the best but uh, you know. His beats are the cold.

I didn't believe he was a huge douche until this discovery that he types in all caps. Now I think he's a douche.

This is why I never go to hip-hop boards.
EVERYONE TYPES IN CAPS, ALWAYS.

But am I the only one in here that likes Kanye's music? Like, the only one with taste anyways?

I didn't like 808's, but I've always liked his stuff. Not just his production, but his rhymes too. He's not the greatest, but he's got some awesome wordplay that I'm a fan of.

Bane of your existence 04-10-2009 02:56 AM

His music is just fun. I'm not saying he's Dilla on the boards, or Raekwon with his delivery. But overall he's solid at pretty much everything he does and like I said, it's always fun. Always catchy.

Scarlett O'Hara 04-10-2009 05:41 AM

Everybody, check this **** out, South Park owned him:

I can't believe you just said that you love his rhymes and his wordplay....you should be slapped like seriously.

Kanye is not a lyricist he struggles so hard to make things fit and sound cool. I'm like wtf? really? but then again I don't listen to him for his lyrics.

It's all about the production.

I loved 808s....I can't believe he put out my favorite song as a single...."welcome to heartbreak" I could really relate to that song that's why I loved it so much when I first heard it.

pourmeanother 04-13-2009 01:40 PM

Well you liked 808s, which was fuking horrible- so looks like we're both going to be Chris Brown'd for saying something "stupid".

djchameleon 04-13-2009 01:43 PM

eh I mean it's your opinion
just like me liking 808s was my opinion but it's just weird to hear people say that they actually like Kanye for his lyrics.....

so we are pretty much just as at an agree to disagree standoff.

Scarlett O'Hara 04-13-2009 02:06 PM

I like 808, I like all of his stuff. Sue me. I think he's got something going on in rap. I think he's making music a little more new age. I don't think it's art like he claims but it's not bad to listen to when you're pumping up for a night of drinking.

Oh for sure, dude- it's all opinion, and I might try to knock yours, but doesn't meant either of us is right or wrong. I'm not trying to go out there and proclaim Kanye as an amazing lyricist or anything, I just happen to like a lot of his rhymes- simple or not. I think they are cheeky for the most part, and sometimes deep/relatable ('All Falls Down' comes to mind). But yeah, I wouldn't rank him high, I just happen to dig his style behind the mic more than most hip-hop heads.

wokerybrockery 04-13-2009 03:06 PM

Lets hope he does go to jail. Maybe he will actually write good music when he gets out. that arrogant turd burglar.
