I didn't like 808's, but I've always liked his stuff. Not just his production, but his rhymes too. He's not the greatest, but he's got some awesome wordplay that I'm a fan of.

His music is just fun. I'm not saying he's Dilla on the boards, or Raekwon with his delivery. But overall he's solid at pretty much everything he does and like I said, it's always fun. Always catchy.

Kanye is not a lyricist he struggles so hard to make things fit and sound cool. I'm like wtf? really? but then again I don't listen to him for his lyrics. It's all about the production. I loved 808s....I can't believe he put out my favorite song as a single...."welcome to heartbreak" I could really relate to that song that's why I loved it so much when I first heard it. |

Well you liked 808s, which was fuking horrible- so looks like we're both going to be Chris Brown'd for saying something "stupid".

eh I mean it's your opinion
just like me liking 808s was my opinion but it's just weird to hear people say that they actually like Kanye for his lyrics..... so we are pretty much just as at an agree to disagree standoff. |

I like 808, I like all of his stuff. Sue me. I think he's got something going on in rap. I think he's making music a little more new age. I don't think it's art like he claims but it's not bad to listen to when you're pumping up for a night of drinking.

Oh for sure, dude- it's all opinion, and I might try to knock yours, but doesn't meant either of us is right or wrong. I'm not trying to go out there and proclaim Kanye as an amazing lyricist or anything, I just happen to like a lot of his rhymes- simple or not. I think they are cheeky for the most part, and sometimes deep/relatable ('All Falls Down' comes to mind). But yeah, I wouldn't rank him high, I just happen to dig his style behind the mic more than most hip-hop heads.
