I don't know, I guess I haven't paid that close attention to where the people I like are from. Actually most are Great Lakes/Midwest area. But out of the two, New York seals the deal. Love the good Doctor, and bay area is ridiculous/entertaining, but gotta go East Coast- but strictly in terms of hip hop music... everything else, West Coast Best Coast.

edit: and to Surell Canada has produced some decent hip hop acts as of late, Buck 65, K'Naan (while from Somalia he moved to Canada at a youngish age), LuciDream (as well as Internal Affairs who later became LuciDream). |

Rehab is from Georgia so I suppose you would consider them East Coast which is cool and totally makes sense. They unfortunately get slumped into with other rap rock bands like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park so people who already have disdain for those groups often overlook them which is a shame. The vocals are what bring me home with this group, gritty, evocative, and heavy with depth. CunninLynguists are arguably my favourite hip hop group at this present moment. From Kentucky this group came out around the '00's and lacked the gangsta fixation which was plaguing the airwaves at the time. Intelligent and witty lyrics riding on smooth and catchy beats, this group is totally deserving of their status in my books. |
