first post!

word to music banter forum regs.

now that thats done.

Nerdcore Hip hop

Nerdcore is a genre of hip hop/rap music that touches on topics like computer hacking, out-of-production soda infatuations, playing video games, email spamming, robots, star wars and other obscure movie characters, etc. Artists vary greatly in their styles. Some rap in a style similar to mainstream artists while others sound, well, nerdy.

I particularly enjoy ytcracker, Mc frontalot, Mc hawkins, Mc paul barman, Shafer teh dark lord,Optimus rhyme, Id obelus. So pretty much all off the genre i have found i like.
also MC chris who doesn't want to be associated w/ Nerdcore i find a suitable mention on a list like this.(illi oi!)

so yeah. if you like this stuff and have some other cool MC's worth mentioning, leme know.

even if you hate Nerdcore and you just wana post how much you hate it. leme know.

MC Hawking is great, A Brief History of Rhyme was hilarious. I also like MC Frontalot, but I've only heard Nerdcore Rising. I need to listen to more nerdcore.

Kirby 01-25-2009 12:50 PM

MC Chris' latest album "MC Chris Is Dead" is amazing.

Runamok 01-28-2009 09:31 AM

Runamok 01-28-2009 12:06 PM

phantom133pz 01-29-2009 12:14 PM

I just looked at the movie website and I'm a little confused... Don't know if you can answer this or not, but what does Jello Biafra have to do with nerdcore?

Runamok 01-30-2009 11:33 AM

I've heard tons of MC Chris (thanks to a sh*tty ex-gf of mine). His music is just a novelty IMO, really not that much talent. I'm not sure if Childish Gambino would fall into this category or not, but I've been digging his stuff lately.

Sparky 06-17-2011 11:32 PM

I dont know if mc paul barman counts but he's dope

Mrd00d 06-18-2011 11:29 AM

Optimus Rhyme lays down some quality raps. Way better than all those "pale kids rap fast" ish. I love his use of live band.

MC Frontalot is hit or miss. I like a good few of his tracks, but either you're that nerdy and can relate or you can't.

Shafer the Dark Lord is worth checking out. Nerdiest of evil rappers.

MC Hawking is a good laugh. If you can get your laughs on Stephen Hawking rapping, you'll enjoy it.

Rappy McRapperson is ... crappy McCrapperson

MC Paul Barman is really the best, but as mentioned above, I'm not sure he's nerdy enough for nerdcore. Besides being Jewish and having a funny voice, he's not so much a nerd as he is talented at rapping about anything. And good enough with words/counting bars that he comes off as ... nerdy?

MC Chris is a novelty, yea.

The Mad Conductor is another good semi-nerdy rapper with a live band as well. Enjoyable raps, but his voice brings Tom Green to mind.

Captain Dan and the Scurvy Crew... not nerdcore, but piratecore so to speak. But making your rap persona a pirate is kinda nerdy isn't it? Both albums are top notch pirate fare.
