Wale
Anyone listen to him?
I downloaded his Mixtape About Nothing a while ago and have been digesting it, and overall it's very solid but not quite excellent in my views. Bizarrely, it is a concept album centred on Wale's love of Seinfeld, with a lot of samples from the show opening and book-ending tracks. Lyrically he's pretty a mixed bag, some verses are excellent but others sound fairly clumsy, although I've bothered to let the lyrics sink in on a few tracks, so I'm not a brilliant judge right now. The production is strong, but sometimes sounds a little generic. At the moment my favourite track is The Cramer, which opens with Michael Richards insane rant and goes on to examine race relations. Pretty standard stuff, but the pulsing production is great. He has other albums out, but I haven't heard any. Any tips on his other work would be appreciated. |

Wale is completely hit or miss, but I'm still waiting anxiously on Attention: Deficit
Wale - Family Affair | Hip Hop Songs > HipHopDX.com His wordplay is usually pretty dope. But sometimes he definitely just blows it. If his album is similar to the song above that just dropped, I'll be happy.
