What is it with all these rappers using the zapp voice thing? For the love of god someone make it stop

Please don't mistake the talentless use of Anteres Auto-Tune as the same thing that Roger Troutman used. Vocoders actually require some musical talent. Auto-Tune is for people who can't sing. The fad should've died when Cher used it. Isn't it sad that what's "hot" in hip pop now was done years ago by Cher?

This. But what can you expect really? This style of music has become so damn commercialised that the only thing that matters is the profits(and product placement =/)

Alot of them just don't give a **** if they are original or not. If their songs are good or not. Because the majority of their fans are people who simply go with whats cool

Even Jamie Foxx used it on his last album. Im surprised because he can actually sing but he's doing it for the gimmick and like you said, the majority of fans go for what's cool these days. Kanye West is the most embarrassing example of its use. I'd rather listen to T-Pain use it than West. At least T kind of uses it creatively but it's still a tired fad.

The whole over-auto-tuning effect on vocals makes me laugh.

On a project once, I was recording a friend's folk/alternative song as a favor and after I tracked his vocals and started on the mix, I rigidly auto-tuned the entire thing and sent it to him... His reaction equalled priceless.

It occurred to me that the only reason anyone should ever "T-Pain" a vocal is for practical joke purposes.

i hate that rappers and singers are using vocoders and autotune like t pain, kanye west, and lil wayne. it's ruining music!!!! jus use your natural voice!!1
