Jay-Z
What do we all think?
Here he is sticking it to Noel Gallagher before busting into 99 Problems at Glastonbury festival a couple of days ago, following Noel's statement in the media that hip hop has no place at Glastonbury... For some reason the UK media has made a big deal out of Jay-Z's top billing (no, he's not the 'first ever hip hop artist' to appear there!) The genius of the moment is kind of ruined when the audience decide to sing along to every word... But Jay-Z killed it and pretty much won them over, even if he had to kiss up to the arm-waving, middle-class pillocks in sunhats to do so. Personally I only have 'Reasonable Doubt', and this Glasto nonsense made me return to it, a bona fide classic - no question. I prefer Jay-Z the Hustler to Jay-Z the World's Biggest Capitalist, obviously, but can't wait to download 'the Blueprint' at some point. |

Jay Z was pretty clever at Glasto, he knew his crowd. Little bits of AC/DC and the Prodigy in his set, played Rihanna's Umbrella and Estelle's American Boy and of course did Wonderwall.
I think he set out to piss a lot of people off who doubted him, and judging by some people's reactions it worked! Props to him. |
