GZA's the only one whose solo work I continue to enjoy. So I chose him. Although, I've heard great things about Ghostface's stuff so I'm gonna have to check him out.
gfk for sure.
a paltry two votes for raekwon? pfft. I know he's an ugly sonofabitch but camman

Anyway I chose Method Man, because I am fond of his solo work. |
Dirt McGirt. C'mon peeps. No one else comes close.
I voted ages ago and can't remember who for (I think it might of been ODB), but I've changed my mind - Ghostface gets my vote, followed by GZA.

The Colbert Report Full Episode | Wednesday Oct 14 2009 | Comedy Central check it out. it starts at around 17 minutes. |
^Thanks!
Yeah I watched the interview last night, it was mostly about RZA's new book "the Tao of Wu" apparently it's his take on life.
Raekwon is the best hands down. His flow is one of my favorites and he is the best lyricist of Wu-Tang. I think my favorite member is RZA because he is my favorite producer.
Poor Masta Killa..........
no one likes masta killa :P :P
Raekwon
only 4 votes for raekwon.
poor guy. |
1. GZA
2. Ghostface 3. Inspectah Deck 4. ODB Would be my top four, tbh I really don't care for Method Man. |

I think Method Man is the most fun out of all the Wu-Tang. Ol' Dirty can get a bit annoying after awhile. Method Man's flow reminds me of a more moderate version of Ol' Dirty. Method occasionally adds singing to his flow and the way he works the inhale in his flow makes it catchy as hell.
Lyrically, I don't find Method Man to be that strong. |
Method definitely has the best flow out of the group, while it seems like everyone else is really pissed off. It can be a song about killing everyone and Method can spit it like poetry.
1. Method Man
2. Ol Dirty Bastard 3. Ghostface Killah 4. Inspectah Deck 5. RZA |
this is actually one of the toughest decisions ive had to make in a long time.
off the top of my head: 1.method 2.rza 3.gza 4.odb 5.raekwon |
imma go with Raekwon on this, then RZA then Methodman. Say something!! Heard that Purple tape 2 yet?
"Only Built 4 Cuban Linx pt 2" is maybe my favorite hip hop album this year.
Changing my vote to Raekwon. |
Going by their solo works I would have to go with either Ghost or the Gza. Going by their work in the clan, Ghost or Inspectah.
My least favorite when it comes to their work as an MC is easily the Rza, not to say he isn't talented, just that his skills lie elsewhere. Although, his flow in Protect ya Neck is sick. I like Meth, Dirty, and Ugod, they were great for adding a lot of flavor into the mix, but on a lyrical level I would not compare them to Ghost, Rza, Rae, or Inspectah. |
Big Baby Jesus, of course
Odb I find his voice unique and sounds badass
Nice thread
I'm always surprised at how many people rank ODB as the best rapper in the Wu. Don't get me wrong, I love that God and RIP, but he ain't close to the best honestly. 1) RZA - Lyrics too deep for comprehension unless you do like a months worth of research to figure out what he's talking about 2) GZA - Lyrics are amazing as well, though not as deep, he's better at metaphors and rap-battle style 3) Deck - Very underrated, nobody kicks a song off better than Deck 4) Ghost - Between his lyrics, storytelling, and stream of consciousness flow 5) Raekwon - Not a big fan of that thick ass NY accent, or his slang, cuz I'm not from NY, but he has very smart lyrics and skilled delivery 6) Meth - That flow....oh my...that flow...like sex to my ears 7) ODB - God rest his soul, super creative, fun, awesome to listen to, sometimes the lyrics aren't too great but his delivery is unmatched 8) Masta Killa - He's like the love child of RZA and GZA 9) U-God - doesn't get enough credit, his flow, rhymes, and delivery are top notch, but he's had some **** songs in his solo career besmerching his name 10) Frukwon & Too Poetic - Gravediggaz technically, but badass nonetheless |
I've always thought GZA's lyrics were mediocre.
I agree, I don't think Deck gets enough credit. But my vote is still with Meth, crazy good.
Because this is just the best "rapper" thread, I'm voting based on pure emceeing and wordsmithing. Raekwon.
Method man <3
I'm really intrigued by all this RZA code hype. I thought he was just sayin some ****, like black people tend to do.
Quote:
He raps about science, history, social philosophies, religion, his own takes on life, the 5% nation, which is all ridiculously deep **** compare to the "i'm a better rapper than you" stuff you normally hear on most of the more mainstream wu-tang songs. He's an amazing poet, up there with the best of all time in my opinion, rapper or not the guy is one of the best poets of all time bar-none. Protons Electrons Always Cause Explosions Positive Energy Always Correct Errors Here's his **** from Twelve Jewelz in case your curious Quote:

GZA is dope. I like Mef but only when he's with Redman. Face always has a cool vibe too. I met him after a show in FL and that dude a pimp. Got the finest breezies
I'm not that into Wu-Tang, but if I had to choose, I'd say Ol' Dirty Bastard. Just because... he's 'Ol Dirty Bastard. How can you not love him?
Without RZA, there is no Wu-Tang. He's the foundation of the whole squad.

GZA, Liquid Swords. Nuff said.
I've got to say, I'm pretty surprised at Raekwon's low amount of votes.
1. GZA
1A. Raekwon 2. Ghost 3. Meth 4. ODB 5. RZA 6. Inspectah Deck 7. Masta Killa 8. U-God The only difficult part was who ranks first overall; GZA edges Rae based on the strength of Liquid Swords, but Rae's work on Wu-Tang Forever and his verses on Ghost's Ironman are equally mind-blowing. |
