I took quarter water, sold it in bottles for 2 bucks
Coca-Cola came and bought it for billions,
What the f*ck?
Have a baby by me, baby;
Be a millionaire,
I write the check before the baby comes,
Who the f*ck cares
I'm stanky rich,
I'ma die tryna spend this sh*t,
Southside's up in in this bitch
Yeah I smell like the vault, I used to sell dope
I did play the block, now I play on boats
In the south of France baby, St. Tropez,
Get a tan? I'm already black
Rich? I'm already that
Gangsta, get a gat, hit a head in a hat,
Call that a riddle rap
Sh*t, f*ck the chitter-chat
I'm the baker, I bake the bread
The barber, I cut ya head
The marksman, I spray the lead
I blood clot, chop ya leg!
Do not f*ck with the kid
I get biz wit the cig
I come where you live
Ya dead!

throwback.

Unmarked police cars roam the streets hard, the heat is God
Somebody tell these shorties reach for the stars
Instead they tell 'em how to reach through the bars, holdin' a mirror
Lookin' down a tier in jail, makin' weapons to kill ya
Weed smoke, three tokes nigga pour more Henny
He sighs with eyes that seen a war too many
Cold-blooded murderers, universal
Hood to hood, blowin' smoke, state of mind is purple.

Yeah, and if I'm ever at the crossroads
and start feeling mixed signals like Morse code
My soul start to grow colder than the North Pole
I try to focus on the hole of where the torch goes
In the tradition of these legendary sports pros
As far as I can see, I've made it to the threshold
Lord knows I've waited for this a lifetime
And I'm an icon when I let my light shine
Shine bright as an example of a champion
Taking the advantage, never copping out or cancelling
Burn like a chariot, learn how to carry it
Maverick, always above and beyond average
Fuel to the flame that I train with and travel with
Something in my eyes say I'm so close to having the prize
I realise I'm supposed to reach for the skies
Never let somebody try to tell you otherwise

"99 Problems" - Jay-Z

The cleverly constructed lyrics below show the frustration of racial profiling so well!

This rap song impressed me as soon as I heard it because the song makes me imagine clearly how it feels to be seen as guilty until proven innocent. The song gives me just what I like: meaningful lyrics with a compelling storyline and an "I'm not going to take your crap" attitude.

Of course the irony is that the song lyrics may have been based on a true story in which there really *were* drugs in the car! So, the police officer's suspicions were justified. However, civil rights are civil rights and they apply to everyone.

From Wikipedia: "Jay-Z wrote that in 1994 he was pulled over by police while carrying cocaine in a secret compartment in his sunroof. Jay-Z refused to let the police search the car and the police called for the drug sniffing dogs. However, the dogs never showed up and the police had to let Jay-Z go. Moments after he drove away, he wrote that he saw a police car with the dogs drive by."

Apparently, the "bitch" in the song refers to the police dog : "The chorus 'If you're having girl problems, I feel bad for you son/I've got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one' was defined in Jay-Z's book, Decoded, as referring to a police dog." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/99_Problems

The year is ninety-four, in my trunk is raw
In my rear view mirror is the mother****in' law
Got two choices y'all, pull over the car or
Bounce on the Devil, put the pedal to the floor

And I ain't tryin' to see no highway chase with Jake
Plus I got a few dollars, I can fight the case
So I pull over to the side of the road
Son do you know why I'm stoppin' you for?

'Cause I'm young and I'm black and my hat's real low
Or do I look like a mind reader sir? I don't know
Am I under arrest or should I guess some mo'?
Well you was doin fifty-five in the fifty-four
(<-- This line especially shows the injustice of the situation. A great line!)

License and registration and step out of the car
Are you carryin' a weapon on you? I know a lot of you are
I ain't steppin' out of ****, all my papers legit
Well do you mind if I look around the car a little bit?

Well my glove compartment is locked, so is the trunk in the back
And I know my rights, so you gon' need a warrant for that
(<-- Oooo! Defending his rights! I like that.)
Aren't you sharp as a tack, you should try out
For lawyer or somethin', somebody important or somethin'

Child I ain't passed the bar, but I know a little bit
Enough that you won't illegally search my ****
(<-- Knowledge IS power. This is another great line in the song.)
Well we'll see how smart you are when the canine comes
I got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one

I say what's good?
She say not much

She say wassup
I say I think we should hook up
She say uhe...
I say what?
She say but...
I say but... ?
Why u stuck?
She say ****
I say who?
She say not u
I say then who
She say u kno
I kno what?
U kno who
I say I do?
She say u do
I say I do but I really don't because it's u that I really want
And we can do what u really want
Girl we grown
And if he ain't gon treat u right
Then I ain't gon treat u wrong
That's my word
And she heard so many lies
She don't kno what's true or not
Shawty like a valley service I swear she been through alot
But I but her car in park and never let her cry alone
I listened to her heart beat because it plays my favorite song

OOOOH, God damnit I said OOOOH
Do you know the things that I can do to you?
I can make you cry like your momma do
And for the wild, my style, is monumental
As my flow, is ****in up, instrumentals
I leave it superbad cause I know he know
Take it easy, they don't they don't (they don't)
They don't they don't

Andre 3000's 2nd verse on Aquemini by Outkast
Andre 3000's first verse on Return of the G by Outkast
RZA's verse on Protect Ya Neck by The Wu Tang Clan
AZ's verse on Life's a Bitch by Nas
Vordul Mega on Iron Galaxy by Cannibal Ox
Nas' second verse on A Queen's Story

Plenty more but that's just off the top of my head.
